I was just trying to show the surrounding areas. Hoover is parking lots (which is nice) but there is nothing there. The other parks are walkable for food, hotels, bars, other entertainment.
Bricktown
Hoover
A middle school, a high school, a country club, and a small neighborhood. Awesome.

that's what happens when you play in a stadium located in the suburbs.
The thing is, if this tournament had never been in Hoover, no one would be pushing for it to be played in Birmingham

Good. Parking would be a nightmare if it was held downtown somewhere.

you act like these downtown areas don't regularly host events far larger than the SEC baseball tournament

The Barons played there for 25 years. That's not a bad lifespan for such a "shitty venue"

someone is getting really butt hurt downvoting everything

why don't they play there anymore? why did they build their new stadium in the downtown area?

Sankey said the 70 million dollar upgrade to the area next year played a role. Will be interesting to see any improvements they make to the park.
Not shocked it was renewed. Actual people I talk to at the tournament love it there. Only here the hate from the fringe wackos here.

Okay? So drive to downtown Birmingham at night after the games if you want some fun.
Why would you want to walk through a city to get to the ballpark when you can park right there in the parking lot? Just drive downtown afterwards. Seems logical to me. Not to mention the SEC wants to market the SEC tournament as a family outing, not to 20 somethings looking to walk from the ballpark to he bar after the game

And the Astros played in the Dome for 35 years. Lets move it there.
More parking than Hoover. Covered so don't have to worth about weather. Can hold more than Hoover. And its only minutes from Hobby Airport.

I can't wait until the SEC spends millions to renovate Hoover High School's football stadium so we can keep a one weekend a year baseball tournament in Alabama because...reasons

OI don't know, why don't you ask all the developers of ballparks now why they're building stadiums in downtown areas. I guess people are just stupid

no, the SEC just doesn't like change if they can avoid it
Posted on 6/3/16 at 2:10 pm to lsufball19
Because the minor league team is marketing their product to a different demographic than the SEC is marketing their tournament towards. This really isn't a hard concept people, damn

Hoover Met is 15 minutes max from downtown Birmingham. It's really not that big of a deal
