Because the minor league team is marketing their product to a different demographic than the SEC is marketing their tournament towards. This really isn't a hard concept people, damn

minor league baseball's demographic is every bit as family friendly as college baseball

you're from Birmingham. I completely understand why you selfishly want to keep it in your home town

You do realize Hoover has many restaurants and bars nicer than Applebees?

For the most part right now the Barons are going for the 20-something young crowd that's living downtown and wants to drink beer while they watch a game. They so have family nights and it is family friendly, but there bread and butter is the same demographic that lives downtown around the ballpark

The SEC tournament is going for a family weekend vacation vibe right now. It's pretty obvious the difference in the crowds when you go to games in the two parks

you do realize most of the fans clamoring to keep it in Birmingham live there, right? No one wants to travel to Birmingham to hang out in the suburbs all day in a parking lot when there are far better options. Honestly, if they would have just moved the SECT to the new stadium in Birmingham, I doubt nearly as many fans would be complaining

Why are you hanging out in the parking lot?

Okay by me. How is Hoover for those who attend? I was wanting to go eventually. Are the accommodations close to the stadium?

Hoover is perfect for the tournament. Most of these idiots complaining have never been.
IT'S A TOURNAMENT WITH 12 TEAMS, not a 3-game weekend series between two teams. So there are countless variables to take into account other than what ballpark is the best venue for fans to see a game.

They have the schools around so teams can take infield and BP before their game, plenty of parking.

Room for RV lot.

There is no MiLB organization using the Met so they don't have schedule around that season.

Again, it's a BASEBALL tournament, it's not for hipsters to go watch a few innings, instragram then god "downtown" to experience nightlife.

People wanna go to Nashville/Memphis===no one is stopping you, but the SEC Baseball Tournament does not belong there

wonder why they have a BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT WITH 14 TEAMS in NASHVILLE, MEMPHIS, TAMPA, ETC

Fact is, you have no grounds to say it's better because it's never been anywhere else but Hoover

Basketball is different but you know this.

Most knowledgeable SEC Baseball fans love it being in Hoover and considering the A/D voted unanimously to keep it there-they seem "get it."

Most of the critics have either never even been, some hipster douchebag, or don't even care just wanting to bitch.

I've been, am not a hipster, have been following college baseball since the 80s, and i think it should be rotated

It was played in Columbus, GA one year actually.

You just want to complain about something. Most LSU fans love it in Hoover, hell I hang out with them every year.

i've said it in this very thread and i'll say it again, the vast majority of fans in this thread saying it'd be stupid to move are from the birmingham area. of course you love having it there. there is no reason whatsoever that the tournament cannot, at minimum, rotate around the southeast and/or move to the new stadium in downtown birmingham. if all you're worried about is parking, might as well move the thing back to college campuses. there's parking for days

That's what it was like when I went too. Complete opposite of what fans want on here.

To absolutely no one's surprise the only fans who seem to be happy with this arrangement are Alabama and Auburn fans with some fringe LSU support as well.

Obviously it's not changing soon but plans need to be made to move it in the future. I personally like the idea of rotating it.

Obviously the league doesn't care what you think, so quit your bitching. Don't come next year and I promise no one will miss you. Enjoy walking around downtown Nashville with beer in hand while we watch baseball in Hoover.

I'm not even surprised it's staying, it's what the SEC does. That doesn't however mean I have to agree with it.

Probably one of the best decisions the SEC has made in years.
