Jamyest Williams set his announcement date as August 27th. It's down to USCe, Ohio State, and UGA. Crystal balls are overwhelmingly pro USCe.

He's been loving USCe for a long time. Muschamp loves him.

I guess I just kept myself in disbelief that anyone would choose to leave Athens with Smart and Tucker in town to go to Columbia( ) with Muschamp who could barely field a winning team. But it seems that is indeed the case...craziness.

Size and rumblings about character issues seem to have caused us to back off. Like I said before, I go back and forth on him: he's obviously a great football player but I'm not sure if he's quite worth the risk

According to the 247 staff (at least yesterday), we're still pursuing Williams very hard but Champ and Robinson have done a jam-up job of recruiting him.

So he wants to be a star on a weak team. So odd.

Some guys want to win, others just want to stand out. Some seek to do both.

Five-star safety prospect Richard LeCounte III from Liberty County in Riceboro, Georgia, was taken off the field in an ambulance on Thursday night with an apparent head injury. LeCounte was moving his arms and legs on the field after the incident, but his neck was stabilized when he was taken to the hospital, according to a tweet from Chad Simmons - who is at the stadium.

As a paramedic, whether it's serious or not I don't know because I wasn't there but with any head injury, stabilization of neck and back are key protocols.

Any apparent head injury requires neck stabilization and transportation to a hospital for further evaluation. Hopefully just a concussion and he sits out a couple of weeks.

Jamyest Williams was at the scrimmage today and tweeted that "Kirby and Mel made the UGA visit well worth the trip. #GoDawgs"

Might make his commitment in 2 weeks a little more interesting with everyone expecting him to pick SC going in.

Maybe.

I think it's a little bit of an empty sentence.

"Worth the trip"

Hopefully I am reading into it.

2 quick tidbits I've picked up from some light reading this morning...

- Vidalia ILB Nate McBride recently named his top 5, but based on a recent article, sounds like he's down to Oregon, UGA, and Auburn, with Auburn trying to make up ground. Really sounds like it's down to UGA and Oregon, for the most part. Curious to see if that bodes well for us, considering the distance to Oregon, though he's not from Georgia. Obviously, widely considered a long-time UGA lean, does the fact that its Oregon make us more confident, or no different?

- Also of note Leesburg DT and current Michigan commit Aubrey Soloman, THE guy to have considering the lack of D-line talent (specifically DT) in the 2017 class, said he plans to visit UGA multiple times this season. No flip imminent or anything, but anytime a recruit comes to campus, I've got all the confidence in the world in our staff, players, facilities, and recruits to win a kid over. Hopefully we can make it happen, IMHO he's one of the most important guys left on our board

the only reason he's entertained oregon and stanford is because they are telling him he could get a chance at RB as well which intrigues him. When it's all said and done he's been a UGA lean for a long time and would be shocked if he went elsewhere.

Don't recall seeing anything posted about it, but we did not make the final three for AJ Terrell - USCe, Clemson, and UF. Bit of a bummer, but kind of expected as well. Seems that Clemson is the most likely.

While it's still early, not thrilled with the way the DB class has shaken out so far... started out really high with more possibilities. Stevens, Terrell, and Williams all going another way or at least appearing to do so at this time. There was a good article breakdown on some film studies that indicated that DB is the position that Kirby needs to nail down first to run the system that he had at Bama. Hoping the staff can find the pieces they want/need to get the machine running. If we manage LeCounte, Poole, and Gibbs (just not counting on Brini to stick with us right now) that's still a hell of a 3some to add to Hardman. Briscoe and McGraw both unlikely to bolt early, so there will be some good pieces, but just would have been nice to really lock down a complete DB class so that we could cherry pick for 18/19.

I've got full faith in Kirby and Co's ability to recover, but just a big swing the wrong way from where we were trending at the beginning of the summer.

Might be more hesitation to see how Kirby translates to UGA. Seeing a typical CKS defense on the field this year might change some minds.

People have been kind of freaking out over us striking out on AJ Terrell, Jacoby, as well as McKinney looking like a Clemson lean. We already have a lot of young talent in the secondary, give me LeConte, Poole, Gibbs and Brini/Williams and I think we'll be fine.

Also, on McBride, I think like 2 weeks ago or less his dad told the guys at Rivals that UGA is his son's clear leader. I'd be absolutely shocked if we didn't get him.
