Man I would love to move back to Mobile
Don't get me wrong, I love my city. My yearly week off for Mardi Gras is one of the highlights of my year. But visits are enough for me to get by

The guy above has already stated it, but everyone that goes to a private school has to be, quote unquote, recruited. There isn't a district, kids aren't forced to go to private schools. How would a private school not "engage" in these practices?
they recruit people to come PAY to go to school. I'm talking about when they recruit kids to come to their school and they get to go for free where everyone else has to pay. It's offering them the upgraded school experience without the price of admission, therefore, unfair recruiting practices.

thats your opinion, which I think is dumb, as do several other people in this thread that apparently disagree with you.
Dont like the thread, talk somewhere else

It boils down to this:
High schools that recruit kids to play football are better at football than high schools that don't.
Private schools have more leeway in recruiting than do public schools.
The same is true of baseball players, chess players, trombone players, math geeks, computer nerds, literature buffs, or anything tangentially related to athletics/academia/extracurriculars

My brother and I were both offered schollys to private high schools. (him for baseball and me for basketball) he ended up going and I stayed at my public school because we were frickin' good and I had a girlfriend.
it's bullshite for sure but I'm glad he didn't have to stay at his shite HS. I am much younger and went to non hood public HS.
It's one of those "how is this still a thing" things.

In Alabama, private schools have to move up and play in much higher classifications. For example, McGill just beat spain Park for the 7A title but in reality, it's probably about a third the size of regular 7A schools. You are not comparing apples to apples without looking at all the facts. It's not always a level playing field but if it were that out of whack like you think, public schools would never win and that's not nearly the case. Public schools win more often than not.

I wouldn't mind Atlanta.
One of the major reasons I want to move back is just the water and being on the coast.

This is in Tennessee.
I played AAU with a lot of kids from the private school, so it was a little different circumstances I guess. Idk if I would have went completely for free or not; my dad was obviously the one talking to them.
eta I played baseball too. So maybe it was expected I'd play baseball and basketball.
