Raised in TN but family is all from LA

I was born on LA. I'd be disowned if I were a Titans fan

In my opinion, private schools that recruit in this way should have to play against higher division teams, or even a division of their own.

St. Paul's does play in a higher division. We should be playing in 4A.

ETA: if not 3A.

My ex saw this at the private school she attended. They had the top basketball players in the state at the time...

Central Park Christian High School in B'ham.

It happens and we were approached over the summer by a private school who offered a "scholarship" to our son if he would play baseball for them.

That was the first time I've heard of private schools offering scholarships.

I've no doubt our public schools would be better if not for the local white flight Catholic school.

I'm sure you are correct. In fact I sympathize with you in that manner. But there's a reason why "white flight" occurred. In the North it's always been accepted that blacks live in black areas, whites live in white areas and Puerto Ricans live in Spanish areas. That's how the boroughs of New York got started, people left the city, some moved to Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, etc. when I lived in Ohio, I worked with a guy from Texas and he asked me how people get away with living in segregated neighborhoods? I told him that people up here choose to live with who they want. It's not about breaking the law when you see separate neighborhoods. He didn't grasp the concept.

Private schools recruits the hell out of public. My junior year , wé lost 3 or 4 players to the private school. They offered free tution and they gone. I wanted to play them so bad and beat that arse. Of course, that didnt happen.

There was a kid from my area who transferred to Oak Hill for his senior year only

OH is the school Melo went to as well as about 100 other NBA players. To put this in perspective, he was at a HS in Nashvilke TN and Oak Hill is in Virginia. For one year. Crazy.

In Alabama, they have to play up two divisions from where they would be based on school population numbers. Also, there are limits to the number of players they can offer scholarships to.
