The unlikely, but possible, ways the SEC champ gets left out

With 5 power conferences and 4 spots every year at least 1 power conference champion is going to be sitting at home for the playoffs.
Seems like the SEC being this conference is pretty far fetched but it could happen this year.
There are 5 teams left in contention for the SEC crown.
An Alabama/LSU/Florida SEC champion will go to the playoffs no ifs, ands, or buts.
An Ole Miss or Georgia SEC champion will not go to the playoff.
It's really that simple.
Technically both Ole Miss and Georgia still control their destinies, but the odds of either of them winning out and then winning the SEC title game is remote, but crazier shite has happened.
And as one last footnote, neither Alabama or LSU would make the playoffs as a 1 loss team who happened to not make the SEC title game. Either one of these would happen if Ole Miss won out.

Your theory works unless a 2 loss west team loses to a 2 loss FL in the CCG. ND will also pose a problem if they win out.

Florida loses to Georgia
Georgia loses to Auburn
Bama beats LSU
LSU beats OM
Florida beats Bama in SECCG
SEC champ Florida has two losses
West division winner Bama has two losses
LSU at 11-1 with a close loss to Bama makes the playoff without winning their division

I feel like the SEC West winner is gonna have 2 losses and throw a wrench in your prediction

I have been saying all along the big 12 AND SEC could be sitting at home. Stanford tOSU and Clemson are almost locks. If ND has 1 loss they go over the SEC 2 loss team or a 1 loss big 12 team.

And you're evidence for this?

Ole Miss wins out and wins the SEC... Bama goes to the NC... The SEC champ gets left out....

Any scenario with Ole Miss in Atlanta will be devastating to the SEC.
Any other scenario and the SEC has a chance.
Let's keep it simple: for the good of the conference, LSU needs to win out, the whole way. None of us will pull against our school when they play LSU, we all know that. But if our individual schools don't win it, we need LSU to finish undefeated and for the rest of us to win bowl games.

Stanford and Notre Dame do play each other so at least one will be knocked out
Still a ton of football to be played, TCU and Baylor are both beatable and the games between them and OU and OSU will shake out most of them.
Big 10 still has some big matchups coming as well.

Wont happen but it would be a Marshall Henderson at Auburn type troll.

If LSU won the Natty after this scenario (which is not entirely out of the question), I will never complain about injustice in CFB ever again.

If Mississippi State wins out, and LSU loses to Alabama and Ole Miss, State will win the West.
Sure, it's a long shot. But I'd imagine that crazier things have happened.

ND and Stanford play though. If ND wins that game, the PAC 12 is probably not going to get a rep in the playoffs. If Stanford wins, then obviously ND isn't getting in. ND may have an uphill climb even if they do beat Stanford. The committee last year showed that they put a lot of stock in winning that conference championship game (i.e., TCU and Baylor on the outside looking in) and ND doesn't have a conference, much less a championship game.
The way I see it - a one loss SEC champ is still going to get the benefit of the doubt and will be in. A 2 loss SEC champ (e.g., Ole Miss) and the SEC is in big trouble unless some teams from other conferences get upset these last few weeks.

This cat may keep the SEC out.

They lost to Northwestern. They aren't getting in ahead of a one-loss SEC champ in LSU/UF/Bama
