Baylor ran a completely retarded trick play after easily getting the first down by just running it despite being 2nd and 26. The WR pass they sat up resulted in the WR taking an inexplicable sack and like 45 seconds ran off the clock because the QB went 30 yards downfield as a WR.
Then they threw a hail mary that was incomplete, coming up about 20 yards short of the end zone. So they subbed out to some other guy who threw the hail mary before the WRs had a chance to get that far down the field and only Texas players were there.
Definitely a quality shite show ending to a shite show game

This. He might have thrown it too quick, but at least he has an arm.

Word is that TCU's co-OC Cumbie who doesn't have play calling responsibilities turned down Strongs 1,000,000+ 3 year guaranteed offer to be horns OC with complete control
To stay at TCU as the non play calling co-OC for less money

It is also rumored that sips gave strong a new contract to help convince Cumbie that strong has job security.
If strong gets to a bowl game and wins it he is assured to be the coach in 2017
Which means if he bombs the bowl and they decide to can him they are screwed
I'm hoping all of this is true

Cumbie staying with Puple Baylor

He's an idiot. I hate the Longhorns but he'd essentially be paid 3 million for likely 1 year of work. When strong gets fired cumbie would land on his feet bc Texas doesn't have a quarterback, and it's not his fault.
If he makes it more than one year, it's bc he did an outstanding job and can take his pick of low-mid level HC jobs in 2-3 years.
I love their tears, but I dont think he made the right decision.

3 milion paid out over 3 years is still 1 million a year, TCUs offer was most likely over 700,000
That's fricking crazy man. No. Just no. TCU isn't paying a non-coordinator anywhere close to 700k. Meachem (their actual OC) makes 350k. You're grossly overestimating the market for coaches.
There are only 3 assistants (all coordinators) outside the SEC making over 1m. FFS, Lane Kiffin, a former NFL head coach, doesn't make 700k.

I was just taking a stab at it, figuring they would go big vs lose him. I did t know meachem made so little. I figured they were around a 500k mark prior to this.
Just looked it up, he got a raise from the 210k he was making at tech, so he was probably making 250-275, so yeah I way over estimated. TCU probably offered him 325-350 to stay.

oof. It's crazy you have this thought given what is going on with Spav right now. His stop at A&M probably set his career back at least 10 years. That's not worth the money.
Taking a misstep can be even worse though. The right moves and you are Mack Brown. The wrong and you are Watson Brown.

500k is pretty crazy money for most schools. The assistant coaches in the SEC make a ton comparatively. Lincoln Riley (who is OU's OC) makes 500k. That's pretty normal for big schools. TCU is not a big school.
I'd be surprised if TCU overextended themselves on assistants. Patterson has had an awful lot of them go thru there and they've never bothered to match.

We used to pay our OCs 250k not long ago. in RC's era it was more like 100k.

Kind of OT, but a UGA mod just said we had an 85% chance to keep Eason. Made me think of Ketch and Kyler Murray.
I pray this is different.
