I don't understand why he changed it when he had it right the first time

Thanks for the shoutout, Rick!
As you are the prime example:
the sooner you reach "acceptance", the sooner you will be able to cope with Steele as your DC.
Don't live in that bubble too long now, ya'hear...
All I know is y'all better hope Steele falls flat on his face.

Why?
We care more that Chavis helps up improve some.
Steele failing or succeeding will only matter to y'all

Dude thinks Vince Lombardi was a defensive coordinator and that LSU has been propped up by their offense for the last six years. He believes TOP is the determinant of Chavis' success when there is an extensive post refuting this that has been posted about half a dozen times here.
He doesnt know a football from his undescended left nut

Aggies are becoming my favorite posters on here.

Well, for one, I have quite a few bookmarks that will need to be bumped.

If Chavis succeeds here I dont give a shite what Steele does, LSU's defense is already consistently great. Its not like Steele producing good defenses will change anything.
LSU fans are the ones having to hope both that Steele continues the status quo and Chavis fails, because if A&M's defense improves and theirs remains good like it has been that narrows the gap in our favor.
Steele flopping would only be a bonus.

Not saying we aren't having fun right now
Our mutual defensive coach changes have made the offseason a blast

According to most in this thread the position coaches will be responsible for your defense being successful, not Steele. So those bumps wouldn't mean anything and I doubt the many reasonable LSU fans who posted in here would pay any mind to them because of that

You've been here too long to know better than this.

Ok Aggys, since the position coaches are being talked about. Do y'all think they don't matter? Can a DC fix terrible technique and fundamentals?

Aggy is already plural. Don't use it if you don't understand what it means

I was going to edit it but frick you for being a dick. Now the made up word stays.

You predicate defensive success only on your coordinator/personnel. Which is fine.
But have you wondered why most (if not all) up tempo, high flying teams give up a lot of points? It's because defenses get tired because they're on the field more.
The LSUs and Bamas of the world have strong defenses because their offenses control the ball and the clock with the run game.
By nature of his offensive scheme even with a great defensive coordinator, Sumlin's teams will always give up more yards/points. Which is why the assumption that "Chavis just has to hold teams to x yards" is flawed.

Anyone who doesn't think the OP is a stellar effort is moronic or an LSU fan in stage 1

Because I realized Tom Landry isn't dead.
And Lombardi was great at everything he did.

Aggies have a legitimate chance this year.
At third and Chavis.

Sometimes, other times it is a product of jumping on the opposing team and forcing them to play faster and throw more than they would like to try and keep up. You can beat a team by 4-5 TDs and have the game in hand at halftime and still give up 24-28 points and 400+ yards rather easily playing this style. Is beating a team 52-24 with garbage yards and points any less impressive than winning 31-3?
The issue is that we we werent winning 52-24 in 2013 and 2014, we were playing games with both teams in the 40s and couldnt build leads consistently.
If Chavis can come in and slow the initual gameplans of the opposition and allow us to build leads as we did in 2012, I dont care if we give up yards and points once the other team is down by a bunch and throwing most downs.

They have strong defenses because they have had the best defensive recruits and some of the best defensive coaches (Saban, Smart, Chavis, Pelini, etc.)

You missed the point entirely, the point was to illustrate that just because LSU beats A&M in 2015 it wont mean LSU fans were "right" and Chavis didnt succeed.
