We get along just fine in this state for the most part with the exception of fricktards like this one.

True. You never hear anything bad about SC in regards to race. When the police shooting happened in North Charleston, they took action. Even when that state trooper shot that black guy after telling the guy to get his ID, he got in trouble. No rioting, looting, etc. Was shocked at how they handle themselves down there.

Charleston seems like a nice city to live in. Had no idea it looked like that. Just wouldn't want to live close to the Atlantic, hurricanes, and don't like the Eastern Time zone. frick that.

No, instead they have ideas like: Women shouldn't be in positions of power.

The entire government is evil.

That the government is brainwashing everyone.

(Jared Loughner, paranoid schizophrenic)

''You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul, and torched my conscience. You thought it was one pathetic void life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and defenseless people.''

(Cho Seung-Hui, probable schizophrenic.)

''According to an FBI official after the shooting, Alexis was under 'the delusional belief that he was being controlled or influenced by extremely low frequency electromagnetic waves'. A message later obtained by federal authorities from Alexis' personal computing devices said, 'Ultra low frequency attack is what I've been subject to for the last 3 months. And to be perfectly honest, that is what has driven me to this.'"

(Aaron Alexis, Schizophrenic and black, which is bizarre because I've heard only white guys are crazy when they shoot up places.)

James Holmes ''There is no message'', Adam Lanza ''Other mass shooters are amateurs''

'' Klebold wrote that life was no fun without a little death, and that he would like to spend the last moments of his life in nerve-wracking twists of murder and bloodshed. He concluded by saying that he would kill himself afterward in order to leave the world that he hated and go to a better place. ''

(Klebold, mentally ill.)

''That the shooters initially planned and failed to blow up the high school, and not just shoot students, is an indication of how they had wished to overshadow the events that had occurred, respectively, four and six years earlier.''

(Both Harris and Klebold, mentally ill.)

-- None of those sound more or less crazy as frick than starting a race war.

Getting back on topic…

#1) What is the status in your town or state regarding committing the mentally ill
#2) Do you have locked longterm involuntary facilities in your state
#3) Have you experienced mental health care or is treatment done defacto by police in your community?

If you remember a few years ago Pat Dye had a daughter who was way off the deep end. When you read the newspaper reports she sounded like the she had these type issues but the laws in Alabama were making it hard to get her into a proper facility.

1. No
2. No
3. No and I'm sure NC prisons are probably 70% full of mental health people and not legit criminals.

There used to be a mental health hospital in Raleigh but it got shut down. They are going to turn the property into a park....its near Shaw University ( HBC ). So like I said, my state is giving the money away to minority interest - i.e. The Moral Monday crowd who protest at the State capital every Monday that they don't get enough hand outs, lead by The Right Reverend William Barber of The NC NAACP.

Living in a free society means taking the good with the bad. Modern people understand that less than people used to, the way middle aged soccor moms vote makes you think that some people actually believe there is a way to 100% stop terrorism without going full Thought Police.

We should include all the knockout game punks to the mental health list.

In Texas if you're mentally ill and no one cares about you we put you in a care facility, if you define being homeless and on the street as a care facility.

We used to have an elaborate State Hospital system, which has been downsized and broken down.

Sadly this seems to be the mantra across the USA since the 80's

Addressing the real "smoking gun" and the issue of mental health care in the USA

bullshite.

The real issue is RACISM and the fact that even with it smack down right in front of some white people they will still either deny it, evade it or (as you are doing) belittle the importance of the issue.

Is it possible, that this piece of shite is both racist AND mentally ill?

Just a thought.

We are talking about folks who gun down other folks en masse. This is not limited to a black and white issue even tho the media is making it so now. The kid that went into a tower at the University of Texas did not just kill black folks from that vantage point. here is a list of the Top 10 in US history (schools only)

#1 1927, 45 killed in the Bath School (MI)
#2 2007, 33 killed at Virginia Tech (VA)
#3 2012, 28 killed in Sandy Hook (CT)
#4 1966, 16 killed at University of Texas (TX)
#5 1999, 15 killed in Columbine (CO)
#6 2005, 8 killed in Red Lake (MN)
#7 2012, 7 killed at Oikos University (CA)
#7 1976, 7 killed at Cal State Fullerton (CA)
#9 2006, 6 killed in West Nickel Mines School (PA)
#9 2008, 6 killed at NIU (IL)

Of these 10, none were in the deep south and race did not seem to be a motivation in any of them based on victims killed. Pretty sure the killers in all of these tho had some form of mental illness. Playing the race card is the easy way out for the media but it does little to fix the bigger issue below the surface (mental illness).

I am not belittling the importance of the issue and I lived in a historical black neighborhood for much of my life, so I am well aware of race relations. Back in the day I marched for civil rights so please do not tell me I am evading the issue. If you want to call bullshite, at least bring some street creed to the debate as to why you say it is bullshite. Let us know your background and your experience with the mentally ill or your experience as a person in law enforcement who has seen the move to mental health by jail over the private and public facilities that used to hold the mentally ill.

Is it possible people are trying to focus much more on anything (mentally ill) that isn't the fact he is a racist piece of shite?

It is like some of you need an excuse or some kind of justification to why he did what he did. There isn't.

He was racist. He was targeting blacks. They treated him well and he felt guilt about doing it but he "had to complete his mission" so he killed them anyways.

Spare me the fluff. The real issue is RACISM and how America tries to brush it aside or mock the idea of it when it is a gigantic reality.
