He knows how to coach a bb team. He is animated and in the game on the sideline.
I can't wait to go to CC and have a fun time again.

Avery Johnson kept Kevin Hart from being on the SNL Cast.

That's certainly one of the best things about the hire. I'd think most all of the returning players and recruits would be very positive.

Also, think he'll do well recruiting.

The other huge positive is fan excitement. His stature and personality certainly is a massive breath of fresh air.

I suppose the risk is how AJ will adjust his coaching to the college game and deal with all different dynamics.

However, I'm really positive.

Only time will tell if it's a slam dunk hire but, after the Marshal saga, it at very least feels like a buzzer beater to send the game to overtime.

The more I read about Avery Johnson the more excited I get.

He's gonna be a fantastic recruiter, I'm not even worried about it.

Me too. I honestly wasn't overly educated about him, but the more I read the more excited I am about the hire. One thing is for sure, there will be nothing boring about Alabama basketball as long as he is the head coach.

First, an official announcement from the university would be nice. After the last debacle, I won't rest easy until his signature is on the dotted line. Second, we won't know how good or bad this hire is for at least 2-3 seasons. Right now, it's the best we could do and I applaud it. That could change for better or for worse.

I've been glued to the boards and twitter for three weeks waiting on the big moment. Took my daughter on a short hike/nature outing yesterday. Arrived home to find a 4 page thread on our new coach.

I like the hire. We don't know just how well he'll do as a college coach. But, we know he knows basketball. We know he's a leader. We know he's charismatic. We think he'll do well recruiting. Other than stealing a top 10 coach from another program, which is damn near impossible, I don't think we could have done much better. Now we just have to wait and see how it turns out.

not sure how long it will be until he can get out on the recruiting trail. Dont they have to take an NCAA test to show they know the rules. He will have to rely on the current staff.

any speculation out there on who he might look at to fill his staff? Would love to see TR Dunn back in Tuscaloosa.
