Two of his runs, one was after a catch, were truly mind blowing. He is a rare talent for sure.

They why fricking commit???

Meh, commit in terms of recruiting doesn't really come off the same as the definition of the word. That's the one thing I laugh at, LSU fans getting pissed at players for changing their minds.

He committed because he felt like it, but if he changes his mind he will. I don't think he will, but if he does it doesn't mean anything because committing for recruits doesn't mean they're going there. Should it be different? Eh, it doesn't really matter.

He said Alabama was the No. 2 school in his process, noting his relationship with Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Georgia also figured heavily into the mix.

"I hope they do (recruit me) because of the fact that it's not over," Davidson said. "It's not the end of my decision. It's just the beginning. The only thing they've got to do is recruit me. I want to be recruited."
Is he trolling?

Hurts has been lighting it up!

BOL posted an article on 2018 QB Jack West yesterday. Here's the summarized version:

-Talks to Lupoi and Napier every other week or so.
-He watched the game Saturday night.
-He's been friends with Coker since he was in the 5th grade. They both train with QB coach David Morris.
-Said it's always good when Alabama wins.
-Says he's always been an Alabama fan.
-Going to take his time. Currently has 10 offers (doesn't list them).
-He's also friends with AJ. Says their dads are buddies.
-He has a 4.6 GPA and is #1 in his class at Saraland academically.

A couple weeks ago some dude on BOL said to watch out for Stanford with West. Seeing his GPA and reading his quotes on academics I can see why. I hope they don't "Kaden Smith" us again.

Believe Stanford will begin losing some of the strange luster they've had the past couple years. They stink this year, and are on a downward spiral (in my opinion) now that Harbaugh's recruits are filtering out of there. They may also be our biggest comp for Najee Harris, according to DrewD.

That may be true, but they weren't pulling in elite recruits before Harbaugh came in. They were beyond bad for a long period of time.

Najee also lives in Stanfords backyard. If his grades are very good they could be a threat. But I Also think Najee really likes us and so does his coach. Hopefully thats enough but 2017 is far away.

I agree with this. Shaw has driven them back into mediocrity.

Could be different with West having grown up a Bama fan and having friends on the team. And if he's that smart, he can go to grad school at Stanford later. Best of both worlds.

According to redfish/DrewD, there are several on the staff that are EXTREMELY excited about Jalen Hurts coming in next year. There are those that think that he has even more tools than Barnett. He's flat out lit it up his first couple games this year. Will be interesting to see how he's ranked after signing day (not that it really matters). Kiffin feels like we got the best one out there this year. We're finally beginning to build some depth at that position it looks like!

Ryan Bartow on Rashan Gary:

quote:

The feel here is that Gary will likely head to the SEC- Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss or Alabama. He has a rapport with former Texas A&M offensive line commit and fellow five-star Greg Little, an offensive tackle from Allen (Texas) and speaks highly of the programs in the south.

Gary will take his OV to Auburn for the Iron Bowl. Hope he goes to watch them take a loss.

Check out this gem from Bobby Burton regarding Jalen Hurts he posted today:

quote:

I'll move forward to QB selection this year in recruiting. I like Shane Buechele. I think he's a fine quarterback, who is every bit worthy of a scholarship to Texas or really anywhere in the country. However, to recruit Buechele and not at the same time recruit Jalen Hurts, is a major mistake.

Hurts is a coach's son. At Channelview, he was MVP of a district as a junior that includes Port Arthur Memorial, Houston North Shore, Beaumont West Brook and La Porte. He completed 66% of his passes and he's a tremendous runner.

Jalen's currently a four star by 247Sports, not even in the top 247. But he should be. He should be in the top 10 nationally IMO and the country's top dual-threat QB.

He's committed to Alabama, but they want him as an athlete, a safety or receiver, and possibly a QB.

Here's where rankings, camps and TEMPLATES of players don't matter. Throw them all out the window. Find the PLAYERS.

Here's Jalen Hurts and his first game of the year.

LINK

Watson is not only stubborn in his offense, but he's stubborn in what quarterbacks he chooses.

If he can't look at Jalen Hurts and figure out that he needs to be recruited as a quarterback and that he needs to mold an offense around him as opposed to him working into your scheme, then I don't know what to say. It's the exact same thing that happened with Vince Young. Vince was good enough that you refine the scheme to fit him, not vice versa.

There are players and there are schemes. At the college level, the players matter the most because talent is not as equal as it is in the pros.

So let's equate that even to today's Longhorns. If Jerrod Heard is a better player than Tyrone Swoopes, which I think he very much is, then you play Jerrod. You find the scheme that fits him. You don't anchor yourself to a scheme. You anchor yourself to players.

Barrett, Hurts and Heard are players.

I don't know where he is getting that shite about us wanting him as an Athlete and not strictly at QB though.

A guy on BOL is saying Kevin Turner's son is going to walk on at Alabama next year.

His name is Nolan Turner. Here's his MaxPreps profile:

He plays WR. There are some highlights in the link.

Free Scout Content regarding Keith Gavin

quote:

"I know I'm going to go to a couple 'Bama games," Gavin said. "I like everything about the Tide. It's just a great school, and I love coach Saban and his program. I like the team and they have some great boys that I keep in touch with. It's just everything about 'Bama that I love."

Gavin, who's equipped with additional offers from Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi State among others, has a good idea of how his recruitment will play out over the next couple of months.

"Really, it's just 'Bama and Georgia right now," Gavin said. "I haven't really looked at anything else."
