Yeah comparing Athens to Manhattan sells Athens short in all honesty.

Also. Lol at "downtown Nashville" comparing to either(a) Manhattan or (b) Athens. Go somewhere cool in Nashville and get away from Lower Broad.

I forgot about all those microbreweries in Manhattan. Wait, no I didn't. Congrats on your many travels! All kidding aside, I agree about the great food in Athens, but let's not go calling it Manhattan. That's... getting carried away.

You're missing my point. In the small area of downtown Athens, you can just about find any type of food or bar scene under the sun, just like areas around NYU.

I didnt miss your point, chief. I was just fricking with you. The same can be said of a six block radius around downtown Lexington though. And anywhere else.

Eta: anywhere else that has the population to support it and values drinking and eating better than plebes. I'd say like U street or something in DC is probably the most appropriate big city analogue. But again, your point is taken.

I have been to Nashville a few times, which is enough for me not being a country music fan. I'm sure I will be back considering my sister in-law lives with the younger sister of Charles Kelley, one of the members of Lady Antebellum.

shite man, now I'm star struck. But go back to Nashville and go other places like 12 South or Germantown or something cool that I don't even know about. I think you'd dig it.

Yea, Athens is much more like Decatur than Manhattan. Which is awesome, because Decatur is awesome.

Decatur is awesome, but I would argue Athens has much much more.

Yeah, you're right, DC is probably more appropriate.

Sure, it's bigger, but the vibe is very similar. That was my point.

Music, public transportation, festivals, great restaurants, bars.

All 6 miles east of the State Capitol, or 15 minutes via the Blue Line of MARTA.

One of the great things about Downtown Decatur was having that Marta Station.

Also, this is where Agnes Scott is located. This downtown is surrounded by some great neighborhoods, the virginia highlands area isn't far to the west, as well as little five.

Yep. We are a mile or two north in Medlock Park and I use that MARTA station for everything downtown.

Yeah I've hung out in Va Highlands and little five when I was looking at law school down there in Druid hills. Did not make it to Decatur.

The little 5 Vortex changed my life, or something.

At Emory I assume?

Decatur is just to the southeast of Emory. Probably about 1-2 miles. When I describe to people where I live I say right next to Emory and Decatur (we are right east of Emory and right north of Decatur), that's how close they are.

I'm jealous. I would live there tomorrow if I could. My wife would really like to work at CHOA.

His opinion is basically that Greenville is great bc of its downtown, but in actuality it has a high crime rate and is a mere image of Atlanic Station + a little river running through it.

Clemson has a pretty nice campus, but comparing the town to Athens is ridiculous.
