Ya know, I'm pretty sure ga southern does have a pretty nice campus, actually. That's pretty much where my thoughts end.

Georgia Southern is actually a big college, more students than Clemson, 20000. lol We should kick out Wake forest and add it to ACC.
•Ranked one of the top 10 most popular universities in the country by U.S. News and World Report
It has an engineering college. I did not know that. I guess it is my Georgia Clemson.

Ok, confirmed. You're challenged.

i expected some dumb comments but who could have known the whole thread would be hijacked by a guy who shouldn't be posting on this board unless Clemson has mysteriously joined the sec without anyone realizing it. why exactly is a clemson fan trying to convince sec fans that your school is so awesome. if i gave a frick about clemson, i would be posting on some acc board

1. Clemson sucks. Wake Forest has as many ACC football titles in the last ten years.
2. Wake should be higher. But I'm just happy it's on the list. Also, I've been to Elon; I have no idea why it keeps making these lists.
3. What in the world is that school up on lookout mtn? Looks amazing.

You can actually see the main building from the interstate as you drive into Chattanooga from GA/AL on 59.

Is it all just Baylor and McCauley dudes who didn't want to leave?

I don't think so. I honestly don't know what the study body makeup is at Covenant. I went to high school in northeast Tennessee, have grandparents in Chattanooga and live in Atlanta and I have never heard or met of anyone that went to school there.
I think they only have about 1,000 total undergraduate students. Per their website 24% of their student body was home schooled.

This, along with the Disney castle look, lead me to believe this school is made up.
Edit to add: I'm furiously googling this place right now.

Funny that you say that, because every time I would drive past it on my way from Tuscaloosa back up to East Tennessee I would think to myself "Is that even a real college?". Then I did the same thing you are doing hahaha.

Yikes. Established in the 50s, NAIA (like D3, but for dumb kids, and they can give schollys), and an endowment under 30mm.

Yep - so the question is, how did they get that castle?

It was a hotel that went bankrupt in the depression. Also, supposed to be Austro-Hungarian style which makes sense bc the damn thing looks just like this castle in Cesky Krumlov in the Czech sudetland.

This has already been a solid day. I now have knowledge to drop the next time we drive by and somebody asks about Covenant.

I know! I'm gonna shoehorn that puppy into my next conversation. "Oh you're excited about the signing class? Well did you know that the castle at this college you've never heard of... Don't walk away."
Also given the academics of this school I'm switching the boarding schools to St. Andrews-Sewanee and Webb Bellbuckle
No offense to any alums, I hope.

his point is a liquid meal is all you can get in Athens. nothing but bars. don't shoot the messenger
I grew up around Athens, lived in Athens, lived in the Atlanta burbs, and now live outside of Columbia, SC.
This thread is just comical. I have traveled all over the United States, as I'm sure many of you have. When it comes to this region, downtown Athens, culturally, is the closest thing to areas that are in Manhatten in New York.
In the very small area we call downtown Athens, it probably has more bars, large music venues, micro breweries, and legit dining per square mile then anywhere else in the South. As a matter of fact, the only other city with a similar scene that comes to mind is downtown Nashville, which is a much larger city. Perhaps you have heard of Hugh Atchison, a very popular restaurateur who owns two restaurants in Athens, lives in Athens, and is a regular guest on Bravo's Top Chef?
Hugh Atchison
Not to mention, Athens has a large brewery that you can visit called Terrapin, perhaps you have heard of that?
Bands like Nirvana played in Athens in the 90s, bands like Weezer, The Killers, Zac Brown all played in Athen's music venues during the 2000s.
What more could you want out of a college town with just over 100k people?

I forgot about all those microbreweries in Manhattan. Wait, no I didn't. Congrats on your many travels!
All kidding aside, I agree about the great food in Athens, but let's not go calling it Manhattan. That's... getting carried away.

Yea, Athens is much more like Decatur than Manhattan.
Which is awesome, because Decatur is awesome.
