Paying a coach that much probably does more harm than good in most cases. But I agree about the negative Foley/Mullen relationship being exaggerated and even if there is a little truth there, how much could it mean 7 years later? I just don't think Mullen would want that kind of burden. I mean why would he risk it when he has job security at State and will be rewarded a contract upgrade or salary match if someone comes after him. He's happy, obviously.
I don't think hiring Spurrier is even being considered. He's way too old to start fresh in Gainesville.

Why would Spurrier move from one room in the basement of the SEC East to another?
Just to beat UG 4 or 5 more times as a Gator before retiring.

Don't people always hate on what they aren't apart of? I'm sure with a little bit of $ his opinion of the SEC will change drastically.
He said he didn't want to be like the SEC in any way, shape, or form, including winning, apparently.

Petrino is a clown who has embarrassed himself out of two coaching jobs. Hell no I don't want him.
I don't think anyone knows who is a realistic option or not right now. It is all speculation. I'd be very happy with Mullen, Sumlin, or Spurrier. Chip Kelly sounds extremely far-fetched to me but I think that would be the best hire possible, essentially.

petrino would be a better coach than mullen, sumlin or spurrier.

Florida may have to go the NFL route. There just aren't a lot of names available that they would want in college right now. Petrino's scheme however, is reminiscent of what they used to have in the 90's.

It's the Sugar Bowl hat. Why would you wear something from a game you lost?

What about John L. Smith??

The Petrino hubris is ridiculous.
He's a good coach but fans hype him up to Saban, Urban, or Chip Kelly good. He's clearly a POS too which needs to be taken into account and should downgrade his resume.

Big Game Bob at Florida would be a hoot. I love that idea.

All excellent choices.

This.
Plus, all Florida has to do is look at the dumpster fire he left at Arkansas to know he'd be a terrible hire. Why would UF want a guy who's had 5 different head coaching jobs in 9 years and has shown he can't sustain a program past year 4?
