I haven't gotten to watch a whole lot of OM's games and I'm curious what people who have gotten to watch them think of the defense. What are the strengths, weaknesses, game-changing players etc.

Ole Miss defense is just nasty. Probably the best in the country.

Shackelford, Nkemdiche, Golston, Elston, etc.
They are loaded with talent.

Stacked everywhere. Arguably the best defense in the NCAA. The whole defense is filled with game changing players. If you haven't watched then this year, don't, it'll just crush your hopes of an upset.

What about the linebackers and the secondary? Shutdown corners?

Here's to a great game
Will you provide for me a blueprint about y'all's defense too?
"Calling cards" (broadly defined; more strategic than technical)
Lateral speed
Sure tackling
Swarming
Physical
Strengths (narrowly defined; more technical than strategic)
Strong interior pass rush
Ball-hawking secondary
Weaknesses (narrowly defined; more technical than strategic)
Undersized linebackers
Aggressive corners who sometimes get caught peeking into the backfield or jumping routes
Game-changing players
Cody Prewitt
Robert Nkemdiche
Senquez Golson

We have a very deep D line that rotates about 12 guys through (except R. N. who plays the most because the defense is built around him). He gets double and triple teamed on most plays. He still does a good job of caused havoc. When Gross, our undersized speed demon of a DT, plays along side him, he is amazing at beating the guard/center with his first step. We create a lot of negative plays with this.
Our LBs arent world beaters but they are fast and sure tacklers. With our D line, they are rarely blocked and clean up the play when they arrive.
Our CBs are pretty good. Golson is a lock down corner that is second in the nation with 7 picks. Hilton is a journyman that is good in his own right. Webster is a Fr. who is going to be an All conference corner but is still young.
Connor is a superstar at huskey who brings pain when he gets there, great in coverage of the slot guy and good in run support.
Prewitt is an All American. Elston is vastly improved in coverage and is a headhunter who has been kicked out of a couple of games for hitting too hard.
They have given up 2 TD all year. Good luck.

Main thing is you can't score on them. So as an offense you're kinda fricked.

Elite defense at all three levels. Nice combination of speed and strength on the DL. Secondary is just nasty.
