Ive said that I'm not against the event. I hunk its a cool thing to attract corporate executives who all seem to have a Harley and strap on the weekend leathers.

What I don't like is that they float out huge numbers to keep people supportive. There's a handful of businesses that kill during the weekend in comparison to those that see a decline.

I'm all for anything that promotes the area, helps bring in dollars, isn't a craft fair, and gives folks some entertainment options. It's all set up already. They were moving everything in yesterday. Our courier said traffic and parking is the worst he's ever seen it on Wednesday. I was much cooler w/ it when they set up on Thursday night and it was done Sunday evening. Now that there's zero draw on the music side and everything spread out all over town it's much more difficult to not be greatly inconvenienced.

I think Giles does a solid job. He's good people. I keep hearing buzz about these Iron Order fricks planning on instigating problems with other MCs. It'll only take one act of major violence to bring it all to a halt.

There should be some music changes over the next few rallys. The music selected is typically the biggest complaint visitors have of the rally.

I agree that it is unfortunate that so many of the visitors eat the vendor food and nothing else, lately many local restaurants have set up food tents and have done quite well.

Personally, I think the actual violent motorcycle clubs avoid BBB and its ilk like the plague because it is a bit too family friendly for their liking (very different perspective than a couple with two kids or something). You are right though, one really bad press event will cause seriously bad PR.

Let's trade BBBQ to Little Rock in exchange for their two football games

I have appointed myself ambassador of Little Rock and I accept a one year trade of BBBQ to Little Rock on the condition that we hold it off of Asher Ave. In return, every resident of Fayetteville will have to write an essay formally declaring tRock to be the superior MSA in Arkansas.

If I'm the "scornful" one on here in your opinion, then your opinion is tainted.

Badly

Just start an annual Beer Fest in LR on the same dates. Have it at Murray Park just like when Riverfest began and there wouldn't have to be any negotiations. Sell 'Beer Money' for the event.

I drink a lot and have been riding motorcycles awhile (sport bikes) and can say without doubt that it's a deadly mix to do both at the same time.

Let it be placed on the record that I am weighing in on the Bikes & Blues Festival and that I like the Blues but do not like bikers.

A friend of mine just called me after pulling over while driving north on i49. Evidently at the new Don Tyson interchange by Arvest ballpark, a car attempted to "merge" into the traffic on i49 by pulling in front of a semi and getting t-boned. No motorcycles involved, but he said it's most likely a fatality.

Hoping that people stay safe this weekend, but it's unlikely.

This is a totally separate idea from the protest or embracing of BBBQ, but motorcycles scare the crap out of me. I've been in 3 accidents, none of which were my fault. Any of those 3 would have been a fatality if I were on a motorcycle. I have lots of friends who ride, but the stakes are a heck of a lot higher when you're on a motorcycle.
