And? The last 5 years, using a data pool of 5 (and recently 6) other teams, SC has been one of the best teams. That makes them a big rival? They just happen to be better than UF and UT over that time span. Rivalries aren't forged based on the last 5 years.

Well that is just absurdly false. For starters, you're ignoring over 100 years of games and only focusing on 2005-present.

Second, your premise simply isn't correct. Richt's losses against a spurrier-led SC:

07- This is the only one that has any merit, but it's really only half-merit because of UT. We lost the east because we lost to SC AND UT. Kiffin has as much blame as our not winning the east as spurrier does.
10- we lost 6 games. SC didn't cost us a thing
11- We lost to SC and still won the east. Let's assume for hypotheticals that we beat SC anyway. We still would've gotten shellacked by LSU, so again spurrier cost us nothing, other than maybe a few spots in the postseason rankings, which are meaningless if you're not in the top 10 anyway.
12- Nope, still were 5 seconds from a national title despite the loss.
14- TBD

So again, there is only 1 year out of 5 that you can claim that spurrier has cost us anything, and it wasn't just SC, it was a combination of SC and UT.

Seriously? There's many, many things that make a rival. A team being good for 5 years isn't one of them. Nobody said SC isn't a heated game with the SEC east at stake. It is, duh. But they are no higher than 5th on our list of rivals.

Agree. He turns 70 this spring. And they aren't going to break through. He'll call it a day in a couple of years at most.

To the people who think SC is such a big rivalry with UGA, are they a big rival to Tennessee? Consider this, UT didn't offer him for college so he went to UF. As coach at UF, he owned UT only about a game or two less than he owned us. And now at SC, he is 5-5 against UT (same as he is against us). And that also includes winning 3 in a row from 2010-2012. Sound familiar?

So for those convinced that mean ol SC is such a major and huge rivalry for UGA...are they a huge and major rival to Tennessee as well?

CNB is good people, I dont understand what point you are trying to make here. Just because he likes to post on the Georgia board that means he considers UGA a rival?

I hate when UGA loses to anybody. I hated the loss to Vandy last year but that doesnt make Vandy UGAs rival. Some of you need to learn the difference between a good team that is a big game most years, and a "rival."

Pretty sure I know what a rival is and SCU is now one. Comparing SCU to a fluke Vandy win a non-starter imo. I hate FU and AU. But losing to SCU or Tech is different to me- sux cause its not supposed to happen.
