It's some jailhouse action that they practice out on the prairie.

Apparently a gig is a pronged spear for hunting small game, such as frogs. The Ags were set to play the TCU Horned Frogs, and someone said "gig 'em," and it stuck for everyone.

It's a Texas "'em" thing.

Hook'em was taken, and so was Sic'em.

F'em looked to feminine.

Someone bulched, "Hey, that'll work".

It was versus tcu and a yell leader at yell practice (1930s) said "We are going to gig Em"(paraphrased) in reference to gigging a frog. Then, in the motion of gigging a frog he stuck his the up in the air

Because, unlike any good Southern boy, the Aggie brain trust at the time didn't understand that you don't use a frog gig on a lizard even if one variant on the lizard's name includes the word "frog".

a long time ago mostly only frog hunters and flounder fisherman went to a&m. so they had gigging on their mind. the rest of us had women at our campus so we had frigging on our minds.
