LSU: Busted coverage

GT: I can almost give you this one.

Give me a break. In all of those, UGA came up with a late drive to win the game. You've just decided that you don't like him and refuse to give him any credit when he does well. Those examples disprove your claim, so you're saying "no, they don't count because our player made a play/their's didn't." Isn't that an OC's job? To put their players in position to make plays and to put opposing players in position not to make plays

Speaking of UF, he made the call on the TE backside screen to put the game out of reach. That call was brilliant, but Lynch fricked it up.

He's a good OC. Not great. An OC's job is to put his team in the best positon to win. Which brings me to my next point.

This play was a colossal failure. It created yet more momentum for Florida, it gave them points AND the ball back. An OC's job is not only to score points but to also not put his team's back against the wall.

The part of that play that was a colossal failure was Lynch's execution of it.

ETA: Can I get some examples of great OCs, since Bobo isn't one IYO?

Just because a play doesn't work out properly, it doesn't mean it was the offensive coordinators fault. Dropped passes are on the players, especially when I could catch the pass. We had the same problem against Nebraska in the bowl game. Players were in the right position to make plays, but just didn't execute.

ETA: I agree with you that play call was stupid, but you can't deny results and Bobo has gotten those for us over the last few years. If we had an average defensive coordinator in 2012 we would have won the national championship because our offense was so good.

I understand that. I also understand that you shouldn't call a play that could result in a safety at that point of the game. Now if we had the ball on the 8, I have no problem with it.

The play I'm talking about didn't result in a safety.

I thought he still called his own plays? Anyway, he used to be.

Whatever play it was last year. It was a play action pass of some sort that somebody missed a block and resulted in a safety. It was the WLOCP and I was drunk.

We also did the same thing against South Carolina last year and it was a HUGE play to get us out of trouble from our 1 and let us run the last 7 minutes off the clock.

Coaching was bad in this game.

Brother, coaching has been bad for decades. Mark Goff has been calling bonehead plays since 2001, remember the run on the barners in 01, it won him bonehaed play of the year per ESPN. The guy is a dumbass that has been in over his head since 2001. We waited too long to fire his arse and now there is no good coaches to replace him with. We are stuck with this douche bag now. frick Richt! I feel your pain.

That dumbass has a 127–46 record. He's clearly in over his head.

Any more gems for this thread?

In and of itself, that doesn't mean much - it's who he beat, who he lost to, and how that matters. Feasting on directional schools isn't as impressive as wins over major programs for example. Unfortunately, Richt has struggled against the upper echelon teams of late.

That was used as an example of someone who clearly isn't "a dumbass" who's is "in over his head".

Have we struggled against good teams recently? Sure. Have we beaten some good teams recently? Yes. Is Richt in over his head? You tell me.

Slice it and dice it anyway you want but on 1st and goal at the 4, with Gurley and big men like Hicks to block, even getting halfway on a safe first down run is what any coach with a brain does. These kind of mental lapses have been a hallmark under Richt...causing us to lose key games a better coach would win.

It is what it is.

This will be my last post on this topic.

I have converted a cashier at my favorite Stop and Rob to a Dawg fan. Even gave him a hat. Saw him tonight picking up an adult beverage (cold and reasonable), and the first thing he said was WTF? I said on the 4? He said yeah. I said I know.

So, hipster dufus and Stop and Rob guy understand.

I rest my case.

Well if the guy at the gas station thinks so, then I need to start reevaluating things.
