All the refs are going to be doing is enforcing the rules. There are rules in place about substitution and stuff that up-tempo teams have been getting away with skirting for awhile.

Rather than pass new rules they decided they should just properly enforce the ones already on the books.

This all turned into a defend the team you love/hate thread. No Auburn fan is going to come in here and say they agree with this. Ttown refs this year will be some damn sumo wrestlers.

Would A&M and Auburn fans bitch about this if they didn't run hurry up offenses? Of course not. It's a two way street.

Frick off refs.

You do not dictate the speed of the game. You call the game that is played in front of you.

Hurry up offense is and always has been part of the game. Only difference is now teams are running it all game instead of only for 2 minute drill.

If they need to add a ref or hire younger faster ones, do it.

Wow you have no background or understanding in officiating sports. No one is going to hire on a young ref with high school and lower college experience over men who have been doing it for decades. They have seen so many scenarios and plays, its essentially getting replayed from before in their head.

They call the game in front of them when they are in the best position to do so without missing anything

Your analogies weren't any better. Both sports still require the ball signaled ready for play and the HUNH doesn't take that way. All it does is speed up the pace the ball is put back into play.

It still doesn't change anything. If the offensive can handle it then it's the defense's job to make sure they can. Its not the offense's place to play down to the defense. If you want to go that route why not start telling the WRs they can only run so fast because the DBs can't keep up?

My big question is, why do teams feel the need to go as fast as they can when there is plenty of time left? Only reason I can think of is because that is the only advantage they have. They're out-skilled, out coached, and out-manned. Only thing they can do it try and catch defenses setting up each play. If I were a defensive coordinator, I would tell my DL to jog their fat asses out there as slow as possible when we subbed.

Not if it's supposed be about handicapping the offense because the defense can't keep up. He was comparing it to ignoring the refs and going whenever you get ready.

Well, you see, if you run plays at a faster rate, you have a chance to run more plays in the long run. Crazy logic, right? You also have a chance to catch teams out of position.

You should probably think deeper.

You also have the same chance of going 3 and out faster because you didn't read the defense. This happened against FSU and Alabama who both have disguised defenses. Catching teams out of position is just plain pussy. You're basically saying we are going to run a play fast so the other team can't adjust like we just did to their defense? If the tables were turned, you wouldn't be defending alabama's honor right now. You would say Saban is cheating and blah blah blah. If you're going to run no huddle then ok, no problem. Wait for the refs to get in position completely and the other side to get set just like your offense got set.

Actually, no, I wouldn't even care.

You see, that's why we are different. You're the type of guy to constantly bring up Auburn in Alabama recruiting and practice threads while everyone else tries to ignore you. You're the type of guy to name your fantasy football team after a guy your fanbase hates (unless you worship him like the lunatic Alabama fans). You're the type of guy that hates Auburn more than you love Alabama. If fact, you have so much Gump/Bammer in you, the majority of the Alabama fans on the Alabama board can't fricking stand you.

Truth hurts, bro.

Fans are so freaking short sighted, if Auburn wasn't running an up tempo offense your opinions about what's good for college football would be totally different, and that's pretty much the definition of homer'ism.

I know if the shoe were on the other foot there'd be Alabama fans arguing the opposite point of view too.

I on the other hand, am a firm believer that it's bad for the game period, and I don't care who's running it and I pray Alabama never does because I will hate it. It cheapens many of the important strategic elements in the game.

If the refs slow down for substitution that is unfairly trying to influence the game.

So you're advocating the defense telling the offense when they are allowed to snap the ball? You're a fricking idiot.

Yes, considering that most fanbases across the nation whose teams don't run the hurry up also agree it's fricking stupid.

RJ may be aggressive on the bama board with some topics but you are the pathetic one. You really lurked that hard on the guy? At least he can't stand auburn and you're the one going after 1 sole person. Why don't you worry about TT and he will keep ragging auburn like 99 percent of you delusional fricks do about Alabama. Truth hurts, BRO
