aTm students hardly cheer outside of the yells.

I sat in it for the 2012 game and it was neither intimidating nor welcoming. Just do something please.

Aggie does have a way better entry system than lsu does though. Getting through and into our section is an unbelievable pain in the arse.

They're all about to have their ancestors disrespected when we midnight yell at y'all's statehouse.

Columbia is bracing for the pageantry of the gay pride promenade and spectacle that is the aggie yell and gay march on our state house. it should be glittery!

Even if it's not that long, absolutely no one uses it as a chance to get a break? Impressive. This is what I saw from Ole Miss, LSU and Arkansas fans. Why do you think y'all don't sit and they do? It's just more cramped?

I don't know, tradition? It's not some rule that's set out or anything, it's just what happens. Why do you not sit during breaks?

When A&M's defense is on the field, EVERY AGGIE IS YELLING. Literally the entire time. You can pull up any aggie football clip, home or away and will hear us yelling while D is on field. While offense is on, not so much.

I'm only talking about what I experienced.

The game time sucked, and I realize that's a factor, but I've sat in five conference student sections and it lacked the joy and party vibe that the others have that make it really really fun.

I think this is actually an important point. I would imagine most student sections are about the same volume. With an 8k student advantage over Auburn, A&M is likely louder. However, it likely isn't an appreciable difference from the field. So, if it doesn't affect the game, who cares?

The "party vibe" can make a huge difference in the student section experience.

Given that it's the entire length of the sideline, and back up to the top of the stadium, how could it not make a difference? Most student sections are crammed in to a corner, or somewhere far back in the upper levels.

Ever notice how it's us (A&M students/Former Students) against the entire SECr?
Anything semi-positive that's said about our university elicits a seemingly pit bull-like response.

Because...accoustics? The volume level in the center of the field is likely within a range which would have little to no difference to the players. I'm not saying A&M's student section isn't very impressive and important. That goes for most SEC schools. My point is simply that A&M is not so much better that it is beyond question they are "the best". Having experienced Auburn's, I think they definitely have an argument. Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience to comment on others except UT's, which actually surprised and amused me with how up they were for Vandy last year.

Its really just a response to claiming your student section is the best or getting defensive about every little thing said about your school. AM fans apparently cannot be objective about anything. Too many years arguing w/ UT about who is #1 i guess. You're just another school here. Nothing that special.

I will say this. Our yell leaders probably do more to lessen the noise factor of the students. Rabid cheers/jeers IMO are louder than yells.

That said, I really like the yells, and it's unique to A&M.

I imagine it to be a throwback picture to the 40s when there were far more civilized fan interactions.

the civilized fan interactions happen during pregame drinking at tailgating spots. Inside the stadium all bets are off.

I feel like because you think we are new and still foreign we aren't allowed to have the best of something. That's your insecurity at work, not ours.

It happens on this board constantly .
Few of you are capable of issuing a compliment to any other school, because it makes you feel like your school is somehow deficient.
It's the same reason folks around here are hellbent to insult others--it makes you feel better about your own lot in life.
TeLeFaWx nailed it: insecurity.
Y'all ought to get over that. It's a wasted emotion.

The OP was asking for everyone's opinions on who has the best student section, reading this thread it seems like anyone who doesn't proclaim A&M are the ones being attacked.

Big games in perfect conditions- it is still LSU, even if we are more pussified than ever Florida students are in the same boat (sucking last year really showed on the field and in the stands).

Big games in any conditions -Aubbie. It poured one year and they were still impressive.

Any and every game- it seems like USC students are in it.

Bama and UGA were "cordially" into the games.

The Arkansas student section was into the game occasionally.

Moo state has passion but is downtrodden (against LSU).

Ole Miss was meh.

A & M did not impress me. It seemed like they were synchronized Big 10 fans. Disturbing really.

Haven't been to the rest.
