It really was a great ending. I'll never be able to enjoy it, but there is no denying the drama.

If only the barners could've capitalized on it and won the big game. How do y'all not stop that fake punt??!!?? Stop the damn fake punt and you win the game. Win the game and that GOAT ending would sure mean a whole lot more.....
C'est la vie

Everything considered I do think it was the GOAT ending of a college football game. Laetner's shot to beat UK in the tourney is probably the GOAT ending of any type of college game imo.

Definitely. I hated the play, but as I've said before I'll acknowledge good football.
I make it a point to regularly watch the kick six. Just so the revenge is a little bit sweeter.

It's funny - the "kick 6" will be shown over and over as one of the greatest, most dramatic plays in history. But that game was won on the touchdown pass seconds earlier. Before that play, I felt there was about an 80-85% chance we would win. No way auburn could run it all the way down in time, and God KNOWS we wouldn't give up a long pass, would we?
When we lined up for the field goal, I felt like we were the underdogs at that point and needed a dramatic fg to avoid overtime. They way our kicker was shellshocked and the momentum going the other way, I knew our odds were weak in overtime.
It's like McNeal's spectacular play just before the goal line stand in 79. It will never get the publicity, but THAT was the pivotal moment in the game.

Just don't agree with the fg. But that's all hindsight.

I think we had the momentum after the TD. The FG call was really the right one. I think Saban felt we had the momentum and he was just hoping the kid would do something amazing to win it
I have been to a lot of Auburn games and alot of other sports events. I will never forget that game or the looks on the faces of the people around me who I have been sitting with for a long time
It was purely awesome..

At the time, I was thinking the opposite. I thought Bama would win in the first overtime (AU gets a FG first and then Bama wins with a TD)

I don't know if it surpasses Cal-Stan but it's definitely one of if not the best.
Thanks Bama for one-upping our screw-up.
Thanks FSU for making sure it wasn't the most memorable season ever.

You had 3 options. Not sure any of them had any better odds than the other.
56 yd field goal with Griffith
56 yd field goal with Foster
39 yd jump ball pass

I certainly had no qualms with the FG, especially since he was capable of making one that long, but in hindsight, a jump ball pass to the end zone would have been fun to watch.
