Watch the game again and note the number of TDs Murray threw when the LSU DBs looked "discombobulated" and "confused." The Bennett TD pass and a couple of completions to Conley and Davis in the 3rd quarter come to mind.
Not denying the Grantham defenses have looked really bad during his tenure, but a good offense can easily confuse an average defense.

So when Swann is trying to figure out what to do with the stacked receivers in the 2nd quarter him throwing his hands up in the air and looking towards the sideline was actually a planned signal to say I got this?

As frustrating as it was to watch our secondary play early on, it was even more frustrating to see the lack of progression over the course of the season. Either way played elite offenses game after game, or we just couldn't defend the pass very well.

Proof that you've asked the same shite and been given the link before. The point isn't necessarily that Grantham's scheme was too complicated. 2012 seemed to go pretty well with a secondary full of seniors. We returned one starter from that group, Swann, who had a great season in 2012. In 2013 he was supposed to be the leader. Maybe he kept throwing his hands up because HE didn't know what to do or because he was frustrated that he couldn't get everyone else lined up. I don't know. But what defensive coordinator worth a damn is going to keep calling plays and packages that his guys clearly don't understand? One of the first things Pruitt said is "if we can't run it, we're not going to call it." Grantham was too stubborn to admit that he was wrong, similar to you, and didn't simplify things for the young secondary. Sure, other teams may have had more talent, but that problem is magnified when your DBs don't know where the hell to line up.

Which is even more reason to simplify things. Rookie mistakes happen, but it's even worse when you can't even line up correctly.

He was good when he had a very experienced defense. What coordinator wouldn't have success with the defense we had in 2012? That same unit also severely under achieved at times. But he refused to adjust in 2013 when those experienced players moved on. That, IMO, is not a good defensive coordinator. BTW, when you get a chance, Google his defense's stats when he was DC in Cleveland. His only other coordinator job.
