Now we're getting somewhere, a pissing contest between Falcons and Jags fans.

How hard would it be to recruit at Georgia Tech if they had a good coach? Not hard at all.

Contrary to popular belief from Georgia fans/SEC homers, GT under Gailey, and especially under Dodd, recruited Georgia, and the south, very well. I'll take Demaryus Thomas and Calvin Johnson over every SEC school's best WR's in the past decade.

quote:

Speaking with my Tech friends, I sense this is the key year for CPJ. He needs a successful season to survive. He won't modernize his offense Vad Lee left the program for that reason. CPJ simply can't attract top flight talent to the school. His best years (by far) were with Galey talent. Plus, he doesn't have a lot of goodwill since he's extremely rude to even his own fans.

Chan Gailey was just as bad as Paul Johnson at recruiting. There was one year when we finished behind Duke in the early 2000s. Calvin Johnson fell into our laps because he wanted to stay local and play right away (UGA had Reggie Brown and Fred Gibson at the time). Gailey had one really strong recruiting class after our 2006 division title, but that seemed like an anomaly.

The truth is that we will never recruit on the level of FSU, Clemson, or an SEC program because even if we got those players to sign LOIs, we would not be able to keep them in school. We don't have a "Jock Major" and have had trouble in the past keeping the players we do have academically eligible. Given the choice between compromising our academic standards for athletic success or keeping the status quo, I think most fans would take what we have.

I do agree that this is a key year for PJ. We beat four bowl teams last year (Duke, UNC, Pitt, Syracuse) by a combined score of 143-44; however, we also went 0-4 against UGA, Clemson, Va Tech, and Miami for the third straight year. The Vad Lee transfer was painful as well since he was supposed to be the ideal QB for this system. If we go 7-5 and 0-4 against our "Big Four" opponents, Johnson will likely be fired.

Don't y'all have a "general studies" major now?

He never mentioned Mizzou. He said Tech is a better school than UGA. I don't see where he's wrong.

You are a complete moron. How do you define better? The two schools offer completely different subjects. Does Tech have a Pharmacy school? Journalism School? Law School? Public Health? Veterinary medicine? Medical Partnership?
Again I don't know why I am asking.. You won't be able to understand basic comparison. Missouri Education at its finest.

Faux hate imo. G Tech is as irrelevant as they come. Zero fan suport, abysmal recruiting.

Nope. Most football players are Business or a humanities major. Link to list of majors

Compared to an SEC power, yes (UT is stretching that definition); compared to all of college football, no.

Is everyone, regardless of major, still required to take calculus?

North Carolina lost 6 games.
Pittsburgh lost 6 games
Syracuse lost 6 games
Duke lost 4 games (Counting their Bowl game)

This what Tech wants to hang their hats on? With the exception of Duke, if a team had a pulse, they beat Tech.

However...I will give them this...they gave georgia all we wanted and then some. It took a great come back to beat Tech. Tech came out wih a good game plan. They threw the ball, and it paid off big time.

I addressed that in my original post. PJ has earned leniency from the administration, but he still can't give out scholarships to players that will fail out.

I'm not sure. I doubt it for the humanities majors.

Tech oldtimers still speak fondly about the Tech/AU rivalry. Apparently, the two engineering schools would pull elaborate pranks against the other around the time of the games.

On February 20, 1892, two teams of students from the Georgia Tech and the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama met on a field in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Ga., to play an afternoon ballgame under a crude set of modified rugby rules.

Probably had more fans attend that game than the last one played...
