So, LSU is a top 5 program for the past 10 years, but the coach who has coached them for the past decade is not in the top 14 of coaches? The coach who leads the program who has put more players in the NFL than anyone else.
Mmmmkay.

I don't think 2/3rds of your title means anything. Saban is clearly the top coach in CFB right now. Few people dispute that. And Malzahn just finished his first year helming a major program, so nobody expects him to make the list. It's like one of those "Best X percentage by player [minimum of 10 games]" type deals for now.
Miles being left off, however, is a bit surprising. Granted, I think more highly of his assistants than him, but you really can't argue with his success.
In any event, this is one man's opinion, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Keeping that in mind, other thoughts:
Petersen might be a little high until we see what he does in a major conference. He's been a fantastic coach, don't get me wrong, but the proof will be in the BCS-level puddin'.
Spurrier is too low. He hasn't won a title in almost two decades, but he's still a helluva coach.
Glad to see Cutcliffe on the list. The guy has done an incredible coaching job.
Gladder to see Dantonio getting as much respect as he does.
Mike Riley? Really? Having him over Miles is just a travesty.

Nick Saban made everything possible for Miles. This is a well-known fact in circles that consist of people who actually know what they are talking about.

i'll go out on a limb and say cutcliffe is on there because of 1) peyton manning 2) eli manning 3) his record at duke last year
Nothing to sneeze at. He's improved them vastly. We're talking about a Duke team that regularly went winless, or only had one win, before he got there. A two win season was a good year. A four win season was a miracle of rare device. Don't underrate what he's accomplished at Duke.
ETA: I looked it up. From 1990 (the year after Spurrier left) until 2007 (the last year before Cutcliffe arrived) they had one 8 win season, in 1994. Four 4 win seasons, two of which were the seasons after Spurrier left and his players were still there. Three 3 win seasons. Four 2 win seasons. Two one win seasons. And four winless seasons. Half of Cutcliffe's seasons have exceeded all but one of the previous 18 years, and he added a 10 win season, which beats anything Spurrier, an admitted coaching legend, managed. The guy's legitimate.

I think I've found the bammer most happy that Nicky didn't go to texas. Had nick left, rolltide would still be fighting with the mods over changing it to Hookem2014.

In the sense that Saban resuscitated the program, yes. In the sense that Miles is still suckling on that teat, not really. A decade is too long to make that claim. Miles is his own man, and does his own recruiting and development now.
I deeply apologize of the image of Miles suckling on Saban's teat.

3. Urban Meyer, OSU
He's a good coach, but after the way he had a fake heart attack, resigned from UF twice, went to an inferior conference where winning (at tOSU) appears to be much easier than the SEC, and then appeared utterly dazed at the OB post-game press conference...CUM is highly overrated in this poll.
I'd certainly slide Les in above him.

No, what made Saban at LSU was the state putting pressure on Schools to bring up the academic standards for high school graduates. The state always produced talent, but most of them could not get in LSU or any SEC School. Timing was perfect when Saban went to LSU, and Miles has also reaped the benefits.

Urban is too high
Stoops got a boost for beating Bama
Few others shouldn't even be on the list

Yet, beating a good AU team is the ultimate wet dream for bama.
It is simply a fantasy that doesn't happen. Even with better talent, coaching, home field, whatever. It just doesn't matter. Bama teams don't have the balls to stand up to AU. Bama is a classic bully that beats up on overmatched teams but always folds and gives up when it gets tough.
Sorta like Bamas only heisman winner in it's history quit against AU after getting knocked on his arse once to often.

In 2014 and 2014 alone, I would have it:
1) Briles
2) Malzahn
3) Fisher
4) Saban
5) James Franklin

Well, seeing as how we only face a good Auburn team once every 4 or 5 years - I don't know how to respond.
It would help if you guys could field a team that wasn't so shitty - we'd at least get to keep our starters in until halftime. It was only last season that we were up 42-0 at HALFTIME on your bitch asses.
I took my foreign exchange student from South Korea to that game, and he asked if we could leave in the 2nd quarter because it was boring. I was embarrassed for you people.

Hence my comment about it being an epic prisoner of the moment list, as evidenced by Cutcliffe and Riley, Stoops as high as he is, and Miles and Richt nowhere to be found.

Bama is bama son. You can buy the best players and pay the most for a coach and hire the biggest staff in football.
But you can't buy heart and you certainly can't buy BALLS.
That is why you will always be AUs bitch when it counts.
