Bama baseball : Alabama baseball leads all S.E.C. teams with over 2300 wins. Bama trails only LSU with our 14 regular season SEC titles and Bama has 7 tournament titles also.
Bama baseball has participated in 5 world series finishing runner up in 1983 & 1997, the Crimson Tide has had over 60 players make major league rosters, the most in the SEC. Besides these 14 SEC titles Bama was champions of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1909 at 19-3, 1913 at 22-7, 1915 at 17-4-1, 1917 at 14-2, 1918 at 13-4, 1919 at 16-2, 1920 at 15-2 and finally in 1930 we were Southern Conference champions.
In case you are poo pooing the SIAA it had Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Texas, Kentucky, Mercer, Ole Miss., Miss. St., Tennessee, Tulane, U.of Nashvile, Sewanee, Cumberland and Southwest Presbyterian.
So, I think it's safe to add 7 more SIAA conference titles and 1 Southern conference title, making Alabama baseball conference champs 22 times in its 120 year span, or 1/5 of all seasons played..... OH YEA....
Bama Basketball :
Bama has 1556 wins in 100 years, 33rd most in all of college basketball, 29th all-time in winning percentage, the 2nd most wins per an SEC team. Alabama is 2 games behind Ohio St. who has played 12 more seasons and 2 games behind Oklahoma St. who has played 4 more seasons.
Bama regular season titles, 1934, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1987, and 2002. Bama has won the conference tournament in 1934, 1982, 1987, 1989, 1990, and 1991. Wimp was dominating the tourney till he got fired.
Bama has 20 NCAA tournament appearances, 8 sweet 16s and an elite 8 appearance.
Bama was regular season champs at 15-3 in 1974 but Vandy at 15 - 3 won the tie breaker and Bama stayed home.
In 1976 the tourney had no seeds, #1 Indiana, #2 Marquette, #5 North Carolina, and #6 Bama were all placed in the Mid East region in Baton Rouge, Bama BLITZED UNC by 15 points and played the last ever undefeated CBB (32-0) team Indiana in its only close game of the tourney, we led 69-68 at the 2:01 mark and trailed 70-69 with 30 seconds and had the ball, we missed a short shot and had to foul, final score 74-69. Marquette lost by 9 to IU and no other team got within 15 of IU in the tourney. Bama was a final 4 team no doubt, but the tourney had no seeding. 24-5 was the final record, and we didn't even get to go in 1974.
I think with Florida's national titles they jump ahead of us, but they absolutely sucked in basketball for years, you have to count that also, and what about the years that only one conference team got in back in the day ? Teams win titles now who finnished 5th or 6th in their conference.!!!!!!
BAMA FOOTBALL, MUST WE ?
15 TITLES, 23 SEC, 4 OR 5 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE TITLES.
Adding all 3 of the top sports together, I think it is safe to say Bama is the GOAT, when looking at the total package, AND IT AIN'T EVEN CLOSE.
IN THE SEC WE ARE:
# 1 ALL-TIME in football wins.
# 1 ALL-TIME in baseball wins
# 2 ALL-TIME in basketball wins
Really no discussion to be had

Basketball: Not even a final four
Baseball: No national title
That's about it

National titles swing the balance a little, but they don't entirely wipe out wins overall, and final four's don't mean shyt, else we made 2 baseball FINAL 2's.
If a team has 2 titles but sucked for 40 years they still might not pass another school.
They didn't have an NCAA baseball tourney when Bama won 7 SIAA titles, or maybe we would have won some national titles, in Basketball they didn't have seeds until 1979, if they did Bama makes the final 4 easily in 1976. Bama went 15-3 in the SEC in 1974 but stayed home. You have different measurables in years gone by so you can't count everything in the same manner.
1st in baseball wins over the longhaul is a major accomplishment.
2nd in wins in basketball is what it is. If we don't have to fire Wimp who knows, but we are still 2nd in wins, a major accomplishment.
FOOTBALL /
If you think one title in baseball jumps you ahead of better teams with zero titles but much better conference title stats and winning percentage you are off your rocker.

Are you seriously trying to argue that Bama has the second best basketball program in the SEC?
Posted on 3/25/14 at 12:15 pm to TheCheshireHog
Yes he is. Funny how championships, or lack of, only matter when gumps are involved.

Bama would be no higher than 5th in basketball. LSU is better and the 3 schools with titles.
Eta: hell, the CAA has twice as many Final Fours as y'all have Elite Eights.

We have the 2nd most wins. Arkansas has 1556 wins also in 90 years of playing instead of our 100 years, so I would put them 2nd in CBB behind UK with Florida a close 3rd. As for baseball, 22 conference titles and the most overall wins puts us # 2 behind LSU.
I am rebutting the guy who had Bama basketball and baseball ninth in the SEC. LOLOL.
I never made an overall list, I only listed stats.
My list would be:
Football 1.Bama 2. tie, LSU, Tennessee.
Baseball 1.LSU, 2. Bama 3. South Carolina ( if their 2 national champioships come on the back of 90 years of mediocrities, I might have to put MSU here. )
Basketball 1. UK, 2. Arkansas 3. Florida but Bama is a close 4rth. Arkansas is 17th in all-time winning percentage, Florida isn't in the top 50 with a 1325-1044 record of 59 percent winning.
2 national titles to one doesn't overcome this big gap, if UF wins it all this year they might could pass Arkansas for 2nd.
The azz0 who had both our baseball and basketball 9th is crazy.
Stats speak for themselves.
Overal, in the big 3 sports, combined it's:
1. Bama 2. LSU 3. probably Tennesse / Florida.

Please tell me how Bama is better than LSU in basketball. UK and LSU are the only schools with double digit SEC titles. LSU has four Final Fours, compared to a single Elite Eight. We also have a MNC from the 30's.
Please say it's due to wins. I'm sure Michigan would love for you to say they have a better football program than Bama.

LSU has 10 regular season titles in basketball and 1 tourney title, Bama has 7 regular season titles and 6 tourney titles, thats a wash, final fours and elite 8s don't mean anything in reality, LSU got blitzed in all final 4s and 1976 Bama was the second best team behind IU.( should Bama count our 2nd place or top 5 finnishes in football ?)
