I think the WRs might actually be a strength this year. Go figure.

Secondary and special teams are the weak spots IMO. Going to be interesting to see what becomes of that by fall.

Is this supposed to be a surprise? WRs were solid last year. They just haven't had much of a passer to throw them the ball.

Getting Denson back is huge. Coates, Duke Williams, Denson, Marcus Davis will make a good unit. Guess you could bring Ricardo in for five wide sets because he has good speed to get down the field. We have CJ that is a great slot guy. Then of course guys like Ray will help with depth.

It's a pretty stacked unit this year.

They were OK and you're right, it probably wasn't all on them, hard to get in a rhythm with 15-20 pass opportunities a game.

But I don't think they were good enough to start masking some of Marshall deficiencies. There wasn't really a go up and get it type WR on the roster last season. I think guys like Stevens and Williams being the mix might change that.

If Tony Stevens can become more consistent with his hands, watch out. Honestly though, I think next year will be his breakout year.

I also thought our WRs were pretty meh last year, even considering we didn't pass a whole lot. Coates was awesome for sure, but after Denson got hurt we did not have a solid #2 WR. Marcus Davis came on early but kind of vanished late in the year, Ricardo Louis has butter fingers, etc. CJ was good in his TE/WR role.

I remember when GenesChin said Ricardo had never seen a white person before moving to AU. Good times.

WR play wasn't great or anything, but it got the job done... and who can develop any continuity when they're getting they're getting on or two targets a a game (outside of coates, and even he had limited opportunities)?

Considering the circumstances this staff inherited, it's pretty impressive where our WR core stands right now... we've come a long way from the 2012 group.

Denson had 3 receptions in 3 games played prior to blowing his knee out against LSU. At no point in time was he the "#2 receiver". He played a lot because he was the best blocking receiver on the team, and that was the role they used him in.

I was eating in village dining with a few guys and RiCardo came in. They asked him to eat with us and he was being sketch. After he left they told me he was so awkward because he never hung out with white people since he is from Miami. They played it cool and went into detail. I mean they sold me hook line and sinker

They were at least above average. Considering how seldom they were thrown to and how bad Marshall's accuracy was most of the time.

Who would you have considered the #2 guy if not Denson?

Marcus Davis seemed to get the second guy Nick looked to until we quit passing. He had 19 receptions up to the Arky game and only 4 after. He had 6 cathes against MSU, Denson had 1.

RL only had 16 up to the Arky game but had 12 after.

Definitely a pleasant surprise. I guess I just didn't view him as our #2 guy. Either way, getting Denson back is going to help a lot and our WRs look really good next year.

I think Denson has some slot experience. Having him, DQ and Sammie on the field at the same time would be incredible from a heigh (6'4, 6'3, 6'2), solid blocking ability and talent standpoint
