I hope Denson gets some reps soon. It's going to be awesome to have big WR's again. I feel like Gus is setting up the offense to look like the 2004 days (in a HUNH, obviously). Big WR's, bruising RB/shifty RB, athletic QB, mean OL.

I think Truitt and Davis are going to have huge years. With Coates and DQ demanding help over the top from safeties, only people left to cover Truitt and Davis in the slot are going to be LBs.

We will be forcing teams to have to choose between leaving Coates/DQ in single coverage and safety/nickel on slot or LB on slot which opens the inside run game due to huge matchup problem.

Our WR core is going to make people mad. Hopefully Marshall can get his accuracy significantly improved and I think we will be unstoppable

If Marshall can hit wide open WRs down the field we are going to have one of the best offenses in the nation next year. Does Ricky Parks factor into the equation at all is my question.

He is bad. My buddy was at last Saturdays practice and said that he needs a lot of work before he will be able to contribute.

He should. He's very athletic to be so large and as much as ppl are going to blitz us we should be able to sneak him out in the flats often for positvie yardage. Having a legit receiving threat at Hback will make our offense even better. I loved Prosch, but Parks can play a much larger role in this offense.

He already contributed last year. Looked fine when he was in the games to me.

5 catches for 50 yards? Denson was getting more looks before he got hurt.

Saying he "contributed" is a bit of an overstatement. He had 5 catches, 3 of which were against W Carolina, including his TD. I remember him dropping a few very catchable balls.

Seemed like he had more than that. I thought I remember him getting a lot of playing time.

Painful to watch and hopefully this is being addressed this spring

This is what frustrated me the most about Marshall last year. The wide open misses. My hope is that beyond Spring practice the QB and the WR's put in extra work on chemistry and timing.

Augirl7 posted on 247 sports board about how the players call Peyton Barber "Heisman" because they all think he's going to win one before he leaves. They say he isn't supposed to be able to do what he does at 220 pounds.

He is my pick as our starting RB this year. I like CAP but he is not Barber.

As the coaches have said, they're mixing at left tackle, running back. Shon Coleman was first up at LT, Corey Grant at RB during pace drills

quote:

-- Josh Holsey and Jaylon Denson continue to sit out practice and were in shorts today. Holsey continues to wear a brace on his surgically-repair left knee.

-- Shon Coleman worked with the first-teamers at left tackle as Auburn continues to rotate him and Patrick Miller at the position.

-- Running back Corey Grant opened pace drill on the first team.

-- Gray King got a lot of work at punt return and it appears the walk-on really is a legitimate option at the spot. Other notables working at punt return included D'haquille Williams, Robenson Therezie, Quan Bray, Jermaine Whitehead and Ricardo Louis.

-- Justin Garrett worked at Star quite a bit as the coaches continue to work him at the hybrid safety spot and at weakside linebacker.

-- Defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson provided two sessions of one-on-one instruction to Cassanova McKinzy and Kris Frost, whose bodies really pop out from the pack on the field.

-- Gabe Wright continues to work at defensive end as coaches work a few players at the spot. Montravius Adams was there as well. Ben Bradley also got some work with the first-team unit at tackle. These moves with tackles playing end should really help guys like Bradley if those moves work out in the fall.

-- Daniel Carlson was 6-for-8 on field goal attempts, but hit a field goal from both hashmarks and also hit a 44-yarder.

-- Third-team quarterback Jonathan Wallace continues to work with special teams on punt and kick coverage.

Gus said in his initial spring PC that they were going to be moving a lot around.

This is the first true time that he and the staff can actually evaluate and play with different pieces. Last year was just learning who every one was and what they could do.

Back in '04, Tubs once described his ideal offense as resembling "a rolling ball of butcher knives".

We caught a glimpse of what that might be like at times last year (most notably in the SECCG). I think there's an excellent chance we'll see it for real this fall.

And it'll be rolling downhill. Fast.

Hey Joey. Can you bump your scholly numbers thread by taking Delaine off...Or was he already off? I can't remember.

Believe I already had him off. Trent Fisher will have to be removed however.

I don't know if it has been mentioned but I just had to look it up, Trent Fisher was a voluntary leaving of the team due to taking up an internship according to Mack Van Gorder
