Well that's a good thing because that's about what I would rate Meyer as a person.

Me too, but why does that matter in TGs recruitment?

Tennessee is telling him they didn't take a QB last cycle because they were saving the spot for him.

He appears to be buying it though.

Is Butch doing any negative recruiting on this one. AU has loads of talent at QB as well so that could also be a factor. I could see UT pulling this one out. The depth at AU is >>>> over UT right now.

I think Auburn's big selling point, if Marshall has another good season running the ball, is that of all the other QBs Auburn has none of them are great runners like Marshall. White, JJ, and Queen are pretty much pro-style QBs. But I don't know if the coaches are really looking at him for QB or WR.

Gibson was all over TSR (Tennessee Sports Radio) today - gave two separate interviews.

I wonder how much of Tennessee being on top is because they are pretty much promising him a chance to start at quarterback from day one from what I understand. I also wonder how much that list might change if Auburn and other teams became desperate enough to make similar promises

If early playing time at QB is a priority you can basically eliminate Auburn now. Sean White will be under center for four years

Kid needs to go to Tennessee. He would be a day 1 starter there.

Yeah, probably not. Dude has some work to do at the QB position. He is an elite talent, but I would give the nod to Ferguson due to his experience.

Anything of importance or more just "I really like this school because of X and this school because of Y"? Or was it more geared into why he has Tennessee at #1 right now?

Said he will narrow his list down to the final 5 at the end of spring/start of summer. TG said he's not afraid of competition but he actually welcomes it, contrary to a lot of stuff he's heard people say about him. Said it will make him a better QB in the long run. He added that Butch is the only HC that personally recruits him out of all the schools and that he talks to Butch pretty much everyday, which really impresses him and makes UT stick out. Said something about VOLS having the best fanbase but I only caught about half of the interview.

I was impressed. I liked his attitude a lot and he didn't come across as a prima donna whatsoever which kinda surprised me.

Thanks for the info.

When you read text only, he DOES come off as a prima donna since he "released a top 15 in order" etc. OSU fans are already nervous he becomes a Pryor type guy who plagues a program.

I haven't gotten that impression from him really, since he seems to really do his research. I think Meyer is or will be personally handling his recruitment for OSU, but OSU hasn't been involved as much without a visit so far. I think Meyer will take it over if he sees an opportunity to get him

Probably said that about UT fanbase because of the attention on twitter. Kids love that crap.

Basically, he really likes the relationship he has with the coaches, especially Jones. We fit with the system he's used to and yes he's aware that some folks think he's in it for the twitter followers but he's not. He's aware that he has things to work on. Overall he comes across as great kid, confident but not arrogant like he'd been accused of - a lot of older people who were giving him shite over twitter were surprised and ate their words.

The main reason we're number 1 has a lot to do with relationships - academics and system mattered to him but it really seemed that the way UT's coaches have stayed in contact and developed a good relationship with him mattered the most to him. (At least that's what I took away from it - very much relationship with staff driven).

Also, he did say that he wasn't worried about competing for the job - basically competition is everywhere.

What Qb does Tenn have that doesnt need some work to do? Not flame intended, but with Gibson at the helm, your offense will be dangerous

Why play for Butch Jones when you can play for Malzahn? ;)

Or Meyer... It's a jab but kind of serious; 2 of them have proven they can take DT qbs and win BIG with them.

Butch Jones did great things at Cinci, so I think he can be great one day, but he's not there yet as an established winner. He could be selling Gibson on the fact that he could be the one gamechanger they need to be BACK

Sean White will redshirt this year then start the next 4 years. Johnson will stay as the backup.
