I find it interesting that they completely changed their leadup to the Spring Game from last year. Last year it was all #50KHogs! And they were begging people to come out. This year 2Beez DGAF about the crowd size.

Probably a smart idea, as I imagine the crowd will be significantly smaller coming off of a 3-9 season.

Yeah I don't see us having a very good crowd this year. If it's even threating rain it could be a terrible turnout

And no doubt our worthless state media will (attempt to) have a field day with it and beat the proverbial dead horse for weeks on end.

And if Collins has fewer than 10 carries, those same shows will light up again with claims he's transferring.

I'm not going to the Spring game, headed opposite direction to Memphis BrewFest instead. Its going to be another long and painless season.

Danny West ?@DannyWest1
Arkansas OL signee Sebastian Tretola will start out as a center when he arrives. Hogs still looking for someone to own that position.

I don't normally like the guys at Arkansas Fight but Josh Goforth knows his stuff. Very good read here as usual. LINK

From Dalton on 247:

With KJ Hill on hand, the Razorbacks had a pass intensive day that involved a large dose of competition and team segments. He had to be happy with what he saw. Here are my immediate thoughts:

1. AJ Derby continues to impress at tight end. He played a lot of Arkansas's version of an H-back today, spending the majority of his time off the line of scrimmage. He had several nice catches, including a late touchdown pass. What I was most impressed with, however, was his ability to block from off the line. He opened up a huge hole after motioning back on a backside run that ended with Jonathon WIlliams taking it to the house. With him at TE, it's no coincidence that Arkansas had a lot more three tight end sets today.

2. On defense, I thought that both Chris Murphy and TQ both had good days with the twos. For a guy who just got here at midterm, Murphy has come along this spring and showed it on Tuesday with two really nice man coverages on some deep balls. After last weeks tweets, TQ seemed to have been on the field all the time. With the lack of depth at LB, he's really got a ton of PT and made use of it. One nice play behind the line of scrimmage really stands out to me in particular.

3. I really think there's some great depth at FB. While Kody Walker took the majority of the reps with the ones, both Arinze and Jones are very capable and had some great blocks today. All three are good enough to play and it's rare to see that depth at fullback. Additionally, Walker took some snaps at RB. That position also has great depth with him, Collins, Williams, and Marshall. Each one had their 20-plus yard break away plays today. Marshall looks very healthy and able. He also took the kickoff return reps today.

4. As previously mentioned, there were quite a few passes today. The bulk of the latter part of practice were passing situational scrimmage plays. It ended with two minute drill and before that there was a long redzone drill that was heavy on the pass. Interestingly, a lot of those plays in the redzone were sprint out passes. Brandon Allen got that started with a strong toss to Keon Hatcher in the endzone. Later on, though, he threw a bad ball that got intercepted by Rohan Gaines and Bielema pulled him. Austin came in and did decently, throwing his own touchdowns to Sprinkle, Derby, and Henry.

5. There are a couple of starters that need to lose some weight and get in shape - mainly I'm talking about Denver Kirkland and DeMarcus Hodge. Early on in a team segment, Hunter Henry jumped offsides and Bielema made the entire team take a lap around the field to show the effect one mistake can have on the entire team. Denver Kirkland barely finished and was far behind everyone else. He didn't take any reps during the screen drill today, either. He's a great drive blocker and a pretty good 5-step pass pro guy, too, but he needs to focus this summer on shedding a few pounds. Same goes for Hodge who could log some significant playing time next fall if he gets in shape.

6. I watched a few of the WR drills today and I think Jared Cornelius has the best hands of the crew. This isn't much of an earth-shattering statement but I expect that group to be better in the fall.

7. On the offensive line, Charpentier started again at LG with Smothers at C. Sam Pittman said after practice that he thinks those two plus the other three starters are the best group he has right now. I had to chance to talk to all three after practice and got their thoughts on the OL plus where some of the incoming guys might play at. I'll have that and more in post-practice tidbits here in a little bit.

Otis on 247:

**AJ Derby said if someone had told him a few weeks ago he would be playing TE in the R-W game he would have said they were crazy

**Dan Skipper had a couple of run ins on the field today protecting other offensive players. He told me he isn't taking anything off anyone walkon or scholarship or whatever if they are trying to do something to one of his offensive teammates. He said he doesn't know what he does to get under everyone's skin,

**Luke Charpentier said the players did get some say into what the new jerseys looked like.

**Jeremy Sprinkle said he didn't have any idea AJ was this good at TE

**Jim Chaney said TE is probably the strength of the offense

**Jeremy Sprinkle said the offense has opened up and it's good to be getting all these opportunities to catch the football.

**The team today had a false start and Bielema made them run entire field, then met with entire team and then started period 8 over.

**J-Will said Dan is one of the nicest guys off the field, but said on it....haha But he said you love htat in an OLM

More from Dalton:

- Coach Smith said Keon Hatcher has a lot better attention to detail this spring. Hatcher said that he's improved in the details in many ways. It's lining up his splits, being one yard from a hash on a route, or two yards from the sidelines on a route - the smallest things that you wouldn't think makes a difference but that has made all the difference for him this spring. He said the coaches have helped him a great deal in understanding that.

- AJ Derby had another great day. He said the offense is coming very natural to him and that's been a part of his success. He's starting to feel at home at TE and Brandon's been making some great decisions in the passing game that has helped him get open. He said he's really got to work on his blocking, though, but I thought he had a good day of blocking. He moved around a lot today behind the line of scrimmage. AJ said the coaches are doing that because he knows the offense so well from his time at QB so they can really move him around and create confusion for the defense because he still knows who he's responsible for no matter where he lines up or motions to.

- Sam Irwin Hill discussed his decision to come to the US and play football. He said it was a daunting task and he didn't know how it was going to work out but that he's loved it and playing for Arkansas has been very rewarding.

- Alex Collins talked about Razorfest this weekend, the autographing, and meeting so many people and kids. He said that it was a big part of his life growing up to have people encouraging him no matter what he was going through and that it helped him get here, so he's looking forward to hopefully doing the same for others now that he's a Hog.

- Sam Pittman made it abundantly clear that finding a center is his number one priority. Sebastian Tretola who was recruited as a guard will start out at center when he arrives on campus. Same with Frank Ragnow. He thinks Smothers is the best guy he has at center right now and Charpentier the best guy at guard but is going to really mix things up when the recruits get here this summer.

- Pittman also discussed how far Brey Cook has come this spring. He called him the leader of the offensive line. He loves the "swag" that he brings to the position and the way he carries himself. He said that he's built up some much needed confidence and played much better because of it. He's really excited about how far he came.

- Dan Skipper's mean streak is part of the reason Pittman likes him so much. He said that Skipper will defend his teammates no matter what and that it says a lot. He's still got to play smart but his aggressiveness is something Pittman is really fond of.

Yes. I still want to see him on Saturdays before I believe the hype. Brandon Mitchell looked good at WR as well.

Our defense makes back ups look like Heisman candidates.

Until that changes I'm not getting pumped about any offensive player until I see them wreck house against the powerhouse teams in the West.
