sitting here watching hoops and reading the 247 FNL summary and I think this is the most generic bullshite imaginable and people seem to be eating it up.

I don't think a single interesting thing is in it. Well, other than the Chevis note but for now I'm just going to take it with a grain of salt because I know he's been running 3rd team. I've noticed Hamm always hypes up Chevis and talks about him being the hardest worker on the team and yada yada. My bet is that's one of his primary sources.

The guy that's been mentioned to me about 30 times this spring is Mastro. He's not just being handed that spot. He's owning it, making the calls, and a former player even called him a "star" in the making.

This may be Hamm playing to his audience a bit, as a large portion of the board has simply written Mastro off. Hamm's reports have talked up Mastro, but that goes over like a lead balloon. It's kind of a shame, because quite a few hold the facts that he's white and from a private school against him. Also, they want someone who absolutely blows up ball carriers. That's all well and good, but highlight, Coryatt-esque hits aren't worth it if you're whiffing on other tackles, or out of position.

Yeah, you're probably right he's playing to the audience a bit. I loved the old wrecking crew style LB. But after watching our defense last year, I can't see how everyone isn't just screaming for a guy that just does his job every play.

had a chance to really look at this now

- Lot of Caden Smith in short yardage. Like it. Also, love him shoving Mastro after Mastro blew up that first GL run. We need an angry FB
- Looks like Honeycutt and Bass (at WLB) in on short yardage d
- Allen throws a pretty ball. That one to Holmes was just amazing. It was a bomb and it seemed to hit him in stride
- Loved seeing Evans get in there and celebrate with Pope after the TD
- Speaking of Pope, really showed out
- Our LBs seems to be shooting gaps better than last year on short yardage. LBs, not DL, were in the backfield on those running plays. The one Bass rode Carson out of bounds was a 4th and goal (you can see the stick as he rides him out)
- James White looks fantastic. I'd heard good things but wow

really good post-practice interview with Sumlin today....well, provided you can get past the first couple minutes with such riveting questions as "how disappointed are you in Kenny Hill?" And the shocking response: "Pretty disappointed."

Seemed to hit all the major storylines:
- Mastro at MLB (very happy with his progress)
- James White (Sumlin's been surprised at how well he's performed. Does everything well)
- Devonte Burns and finding a place for him (mentions nickel)
- Deshazor Everett (NFL corner and they don't plan to move him)
- Edward Pope (first time he's done that this spring)

If Burns moves to nickel, is there any chance of Noel Ellis at FS?

Right now, the FS position is by far the weakest in the secondary.

Raven can't get his shite together

Honeycutt can call the plays but can't make them

Miles was kicked off the team

today's post-practice interviews are with Snyder, Hagen, and LB Mastrogiavanni. For whatever reason they've only posted the Hagen one.

But apparently Snyder (Hagen as well) raved on Mastro and then they sent him out to talk to reporters and he fielded about 20 questions. Snyder listed his concerns right now on defense - safety, nickel, and backup MLB.
