FYI- for those of you who follow golf (no idea if there are any but DWI) Ryan Palmer is -7 and one off the lead thru the first two rounds of the PGA Championship with a few still left to finish. He'd be the first Aggie to win a major.

Did Mcilroy pass him? I like golf, but I haven't been watching much.

Yeah McIlroy just finished at -9, so two shots ahead of Palmer. He's red hot. It should be a good weekend though

Westwood and Chappell and others are just started so it can obviously change. We haven't had a former student contending on a weekend for a major since the Jeff Maggert days though

I thought Jeff Maggert won a major. Had to look it up but he finished in top 5 of all four and never won one (6 overall top 5 finishes in majors). Suuuuck.

Yeah he has like 8 top 5's, that has to suck. He's in that group f guys who came painstakingly close but could never finish

Can you imagine being that close to the pinnacle of your craft, that many times, without ever winning it all? top 5 finishes pay fairly well, but man....

Yeah it has to be tough. Being a golfer on Maggert's level is a pretty sweet life though. You make a lot of money playing a game many Americans pay thousands to play every year, but you aren't a celebrity. You also have a long window for earnings, I'm pretty sure Maggert is on the Champions Tour which isn't pocket change either

Jerrod Johnson's shoulder really messed up our chance at running away with QBU status.

Looks like as of '09 Maggert had made well over $16 mill playing golf in straight earnings. That doesn't count sponsors, endorsements and such. Usually those guys can get a great deal on a house as well living on some golf course so that they will claim it as their "home course". He's closing in on $400k this year and is barely hanging on to a Tour Card.

That's not a bad life.

Late to the party, sorry, but:

This is nonsense. Gabe - yeah, mostly. But he's actually worse than that. I've noticed he changes his opinion to match whoever he's talking to at the moment. Olin Buchanan, though, has pissed off plenty of Aggies. Particularly Manziel-worshipers. I like that guy, a lot.
