The wait to hire this guy makes no sense
Im ready for heads to start rolling unless we see serious improvement in fb and bb. Too much suck for too long
Hell we were at least competitive every now and then under nutt. We dont even have that anymore

Waiting until after NSD gave us no benefit at all.

Fricking this.
I tend to be extremely positive and defer to new coaches, and I've been very supportive of Bert, but I'm melting over here.
Waited fricking weeks and after NSD to sign an unemployed former Big East DC. Dafuq? And frick Bert for acting like he had some master plan Ace in the hole.

I'm very interested in the story behind the story. Obviously Odom was campaigning for the job with his twitter activities.

Yet allowed an SEC receiver to rack up over 300 yards (almost 25% of his season total)

No kidding. From the looks of it, he was essentially following a ton of our recruits and coaches. Who knows if something changed and/or fell through, but I'd like to know WTH happened and why we waited so long to hire a coach who was unemployed.

Brian Kelly wouldn't let Bielema talk to Kerry Cooks until after NSD.

So evidently Bielema and Shannon interviewed Smith together.
Thomas Murphy ?@TomMurphyADG 2m
Bielema describing meeting in Miami with Smith/Shannon. Sat down to talk and Bobby Petrino went walking by. So much for keeping it low key

Bo just tweeted this:
@SportsTalkwBo: Smith: we are going to be aggressive. We will be a 3-4 scheme. You have to be able to play a great base and go from there.
However, Otis posted 4-3 in his press conference update thread.

Which is the better scheme?

I like the 4-3 myself, but with the right personnel a 3-4 can be great and very aggressive with lots of different looks for blitzes. My concern with trying the 3-4 here is recruiting the athletes needed.

That would be my concern as well.
It won't be an issue however as Bo just corrected himself and said he meant to say 4-3.

Very good I was afraid I was fixing to have a meltdown.

On another note. Bielema don't frick around.
@SportsTalkwBo: Bielema: Alex (Collins) has been removed for a week. We have a zero tolerance policy. You will probably see him on twitter less.

WTH.
What did he do?

Good. We can't let any of our players have an entitled attitude no matter how good they are. Idk what Alex did but it sends a message that the coaches don't show favoritism. And I bet whatever it was, he won't do it again.

How the frick are we going to run a 3-4 when we don't even have enough linebackers to run a 4-3
ETA: Just saw the correction

Agreed. 3-4 can really allow you to be an aggressive defense with multiple looks but it's tough to get the right personnel at the collegiate level, especially for a program with our recruiting footprint. It's easier to run at the likes of Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida, though only two of those schools run it (Bama and UGa, though I think they're switching under Pruitt).
