Not an Alabama fan, so no meltdown. Kind of just stating what should be obvoius. A loss on the road in the last seconds of a game that the coach seemingly lost on purpose by not kicking a short field goal and then trying an impossibly long one as time expired doesn't prove to me that they aren't the best team.
If the kick had not been run back the game simply would have gone into overtime. Auburn had the momentum and probably would have also won in overtime.
BTW, great football teams are good in all aspects of the game including Special Teams, kicking and coaching.

I felt we would lose the game in overtime because of our kicking woes. I fully agreed with the decision to go for a longshot FG at the end of regulation.
When we were up by a touchdown with 40 seconds left and gave up that pass, THAT was when the national title escaped us. We can point to a lot of other things, but to me we blew the big one when we gave that up. (And I know it was an absolutely remarkable play by Marshall, I just felt that there was SOME defense that could have ensured we didn't do the ONE THING that allowed them back in it.)

Don't care....we're talking CFB
It was tongue and cheek but if Bama was the best team they wouldn't have lost to AU.
So, just like 2011, they don't deserve to be in the NC game.
Fortunate for us, it didn't happen this year.

Alabama is the best team in the nation
"at some point in the season this was said"
along with beating NFL teams..
Posted on 12/9/13 at 12:00 pm to lsusteve1
But it was said that the best teams don't lose games. By that logic, Au can't be the best with a double digit loss to a meh LSU team.

Nothing good can ever come from starting a thread like this. FSU is undefeated and auburn beat us head to head. They hold the cards when it comes to claiming superiority and there's nothing we can do about it. All I can say is that I wouldn't mind if the playoff started this season instead of next.

Agreed. Somehow this thread, started by a fan of a team OTHER than Alabama, is just more evidence of our "butthurt" and "meltdown.
When you lose, you buck up, congratulate the other team, and move on. Anything else just feeds the bitter ones hanging on any chance to laugh at you.

Yep, dwelling on it just makes it worse. There's always next year.

Auburn would be the national champion. "Best team" is not an award, it is something drunks in bars get into fights over

Will you shut up about a melt down punky, you do know people can air grievances about horrible calls.
Seems the meltdown is on the punks that rufuse to debate the facts of the ball game.
A crew got suspended a few years back for a horrible game, every week in the NFL there are discussions about bad refs costing teams a game, 2 bogus interference calls yesterday aided the Ravens & the Patriots, but Auburn's win can't be discussed, especially because the facts back up that this crew made 8 bad calls in the last 5 minutes along with 2 calls in the first half that led directly to touchdowns.
Only moronic Auburn fans could be so obtuse to not admit the facts that are plain as day.
1. With 5:30 left our RB, Yeldon, got a first down but was marked short, no review, but they reviewed a Mizzou first down in the SECCG and overturned it, you know he got the first down but you don't give a shyt.
2. The 3rd and 19 throw from the endzone with 3:30 left our left end is ready to sack the QB and gets tackled from behind 2 feet in front of a ref, should be a saftey, game over, but you don't care about facts......
3. On Bama's return after that 3rd and 19 Christian Jones was hit in the helmet by your punter, punter should have been ejected and the ball should have been placed at the 12, before you cry about a missed block in the back a punt is hectic by nature with players all over the place and that is the biggest play with missed calls every year but there is no reason to miss a helmet to helmet at the point of a tackle.
Besides 1 missed call vs 8 in the final 5 minutes still reeks
4. Bama gets called for holding on a play that clinched the game, when Auburn got away with a tackle in the endzone 2 feet from the back judge, and got away with 2 more easy holding calls in the first half, but Bama gets called by a side judge 25 yards away , yea right, refs didn't decide the game at all.
5. The double personal fouls on the same play as the holding call, the Auburn player swung a fist at the back of Whites head, White turned around to fend the guy off by pushing him away, a swing should be an auto ejection, protecting yourself from a guy swinging is not a P.F.
6. The recoverd FG play where sissy azz Gus Malzhan pleads for a 15 yard late hit was a bogus call and everyone knows it was bogus, the guy was down but gets up running with the ball, Ivory did not hit him hard nor even fall on the guy, he softly made sure he was down. With the noise the refs knew the whistle couldn't be heard..... most bogus P.F. call I ever saw especially since they refused to call the helmet to hemet on the previous possesion.
7. Auburn has 3 men down field on a pass and a man blocking on the same play while the ball was in the air, but you don't think we have a gripe, we are just melting down, lol, I say you guys are the buffoons, to dismiss the facts as being without merit makes you guys numbskulls, along with your other Bama hating fan bases.
8. Auburn coaches impeded Bama players on the return just like the Steelers coach did, only contact was made, I know you could care less about the rules of the game but why bych like a little baby when the facts are brought up instead of making an intelligent argument against them you are crying melt like a dunce ? The reason you all dodge and deflect is YOU CAN'T ARGUE THE FACTS on an intellectual level because the facts are against you.
Eight bad calls going one way in a 5 minute period is an obvious pattern of bias. Whether it was Bama hate or maybe a ref or 2 who are FSU fans who feared Bama I know not, but I can see bias, especially when it takes so many bad calls in such a short time frame to achieve the results.
The 2 first half touchdowns were both ref aided also, 3rd and 18, Deval has a sack but the right O-Lineman grabbed his face mask in the back field and Deval just turned away from a sack to say hello to the O-L man, YUP RIGHT, easy call in plain sight yet no call and Auburn scores.
The play where the Auburn QB scored but the refs placed him on the 2, the W.R. was holding HA HA on the 7 , no mugging him, yet no call, you all saw it but we CAN'T DISCUSS THE FACTS on there merits or we are melting, LOL, makes you all look like buffoons to deny that which is evident.
If anyone says this crew shoudn't be suspended I ask why not, the crew that got suspended a few years back made far fewer errors than this crew made.
And we are speaking of easy calls, not holding in the line of scrimmage, but holding out in open spaces from behind and face masks 2 feet from a QB 5 yards in the backfield, except for the holding called on Bam's TE from 25 yards away, LMAO at the irony.
