Based on my criteria, would you put Auburn in the top 10?

Brother KaiserSoze, your rankings are retrospective.

If we look going forward College Station is clearly the number one job in the land.

Our agent in the governor's chair is maiming the longhorns (both the school and the football team) as we speak. We are ascendant in the state and will take that spot from them.

The teams above us on your list have cracks in the foundation.

Louisiana-Lafayette has rebranded themselves the University of Louisiana. How long will they let LSU run rampant over the state? Even taking 10% of the recruits from LSU will have a major impact on the fortunes of the bayou bengals.

Bama's days are numbered even more. That state is not so talent rich that it can indefinitely support two uberelite teams. In the past they made up for it because of the intensity of their fanbases and the volume of resources they put into play. But as the business of college football has grown into an industry, new players have begun to throw their full weight into the game.

In 15 years alabama will on average be an 8-5 team under the guidance of favored son, Coach Dabo Swinney. How can that state hope to compete with a state the size of Texas or Florida now that they have our attention? Its over.

In 15 years they will be nebraska. A fallen, once proud empire.

Yes, it's a top 10 maybe top 15 job.

They finance their program well. Nice stadium.

Really all one needs to do at Auburn is beat Alabama and make a decent bowl game and you'll be rewarded.

Hell you could lose every game but beat Bama and you may get a raise.

Not even close. They will always and forever be little brother in their own state and have virtually no in state recruiting.

Auburn is by NO MEANS a bad coaching job, and is a very very good gig. It's a big 6 SEC school with tradition. But it's not a top 10 in the country.

1. You're leaving out Oregon and their Nike Money.

2. The next coaching hire for Texas is critical. Unlike the SWC days, if they have another David McWilliams and John Mackovic, they can't get out of the Big 12, and Sumlin's recruiting comes to fruition, A&M will be the top job in Texas.

3. Stanford is quickly rising up the list.

4. Nebraska will always be a top job.

A top 10 job should be able to attrack a coach with a better resume than a Gene Chizik, or a 1 yr of HC experience Gus Malzhan....

IMO, perhaps the AU administration (at least pre-Gus) has stunted the capability of the AU program to attract a big time HC for the job.

They're closer to being a top 10 job than Tenn. why in the frick do think TN is?! Was all the big time coaches begging for the job since Fulmer got canned? All the in state talent? Maybe the truckload of wins they've had in the last 15 years? What gives? Why TN in your rankings?

Yes, Auburn should be looked at as a top 10 job IMO.

Zero....Zero in-state talent. We're not talking about top program, only top job. The Oregon coach has to travel like a mo-fricker to see any players worth a shite.

This

SCAR is a better job than Tenn, in my biased opinion

Oregon/OU/Notre Dame certainly are.

What's to funny? Are you saying Alabama is a hotbed of high school talent? That's news to me. At absolute BEST it's behind CA, TX, GA, FL, OH, and LA. Best case scenario.

1. Phil Knight is 75. How long will that nike money last. But they are a perfect example of how much of an impact the $$$$ make.

2. Agreed. Barnes and his men will ensure that texas will fall.

3. Stanford is rising. They're resources are fearsome. But as long as they maintain their academic restrictions they have a glass ceiling. Also, how much longer before liberal california de-emphasizes football because of worries over head trauma.

4. Nebraska is a nice job, sure, but will they ever be as good as missouri again? Demographics is destiny.

They're doing pretty well.

Lot of talent in Cali, also.
