Bama's challenge last year was to get to the Natty.

Note Dame. Scarry. The Natty is a joke unless its a SEC rematch.

Bama had to earn a gritty last couple minute drive to win AT Death Valley.

Had to hold off a Great GA. charge in the SECCG.

Lost to A&M.

Then the big Natty Game. Steam Roll. Embarrassing to the country.

The Natty was really played in the SEC.

I agree the BCS system is bullshite half of the time. Anyone that knows football could see that slaughter coming a mile away. With so many teams though, its hard to keep everyone happy with any system. There will always be someone that feels like they were left out.

Perhaps if you are going to start an argument (I know you are really just trolling), you should start by defining the terms.

What do you think qualifies a team into the various tiers you are referencing? Is it just National Championships? Is it conference records? Is it OOC records? This is very important if you want to be taken seriously.

I don't think you want a rational debate on this though, so here's a cat jumping out of a window:

This one's easy. To the average SEC homer, if your OOC team beats an SEC team, that SEC team isn't top tier. Even if it's LSU or A&M, there will be reasons why that team sucked.

Congrats on keeping pace with Louisiana-Lafayette. You both beat Nicholls State by 63 points this year.

tQuackers are only where they're at currently because U$C is still reeling from probation.

Even in the vaccumm that created, tDucks still can't seem to get past Stanford.

40-27 should never be forgotten, in regards to their place amongst the national powers.

Flash n' Dash U is a complete fraud.

It appears that since he considers Oregon a Tier 1 program and since they haven't won dick ever that the only criteria for being a Tier 1 school is to beat UT. So let me be the 1st to ever say welcome to the big time Vanderbilt.

While that's true, I think he's getting at the fact that LSU and Auburn haven't been consistently elite. 2010 was a one-time thing for Auburn. Auburn hasn't been a championship caliber program in a while. 2011 is a Top 3 team in LSU history and featured one of LSU's best defenses in history. LSU hasn't come close to fielding a defense that good in the surrounding years nor has the team been that dominant.

Alabama isn't dominating the SEC, but they've been the best. It takes some fortune to get voted into the BCS Title Game, but Alabama has deserved each trip. I don't think LSU fans are riding off Alabama's success, and Florida fans have no reason to either. Everyone else really hasn't done much though, so I can kinda see the Duck fan's point.

Georgia was potentially one play away from playing for the MNC. Not sure how that doesn't count for something.

There are many teams in the SEC that could play for a MNC any given year. I don't know what this duck's standard is for top tier, but there are a handful of teams in the SEC that fit that bill any given year.

That's why the SEC is so powerful. It's not necessarily because a team from the SEC has won it every year for more than half a decade, but because there are several teams from this conference that can legitimately compete for it every year.

Well Oregon lost to a team not named Bama in the MNC.. So i would think you would identify at least two teams that are top tier.

That was in the past. I'm pretty sure Duck fans are only concerned with the present and not magical years.

7 in a row & only 3 were Bama. 1 tier conference?

While his claim does sound absurd, 3 of the last 4 have been Alabama. All of the SEC National Champions have caught breaks.
2006: Michigan was not given a rematch.
2007: "Year of the Upset". LSU is the only 2-loss BCS national champion.
2008: Were Texas and U.S.C. screwed? Florida was fortunate to have overcome the Ole Miss loss.
2009: Colt McCoy got hurt. How good were 2009 TCU and Boise State? Boise State went 14-0 and was good enough to shut down Oregon in the opener and defeat undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
2010: Auburn's season featured several breaks. The National Championship game was close, and TCU couldn't compete in a playoff to make the championship game.
2011: LSU won in Tuscaloosa. Alabama was then fortunate that Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State and the voters forgave Alabama's November 5th loss to LSU.
2012: Notre Dame went undefeated. Alabama was fortunate that Oregon and Kansas State lost the weekend following Alabama's loss. The National Title game matchup should have been Alabama versus Oregon. Alabama was blessed that Texas A&M had two losses and that Stanford had lost to Notre Dame.

Short memory, Duck Doc: LSU would whip your arse again and again. The Tigers are too big, too fast, and too talented for your Quackers!

Everything you said is true; however, the difference between Alabama and the rest is consistency. Alabama consistently fields good defenses, offenses, and passable special teams. Alabama does not squander talent, and no position has been a recurring weakness for Alabama during the past 4 seasons. LSU has had quarterback struggles since the 2008 season began, and their defense has been all over the map. Chavis has helped make LSU's defenses respected and more consistent, but you never really know what to expect.

I get this too. The SEC is the deepest conference when it comes to ability to compete against other conferences; however, how many perennial national title contenders does the SEC have that don't depend on once in a generation quarterback or extraordinary circumstances to make the big game? Georgia may shock the SEC this season and win the conference with a 12-1 record and win the BCS Championship game, which would earn major respect. The question would be whether or not Georgia could make it back there and win it again because Richt has been there for over a decade and never made it to the national championship.

Let's see....... I think everyone on this board fully agrees that the SEC has been the premier conference in the Nation.

Won SEC Title in 2001
Won SEC Title & National Title in 2003
Played for SEC Title in 2005
Won SEC Title & National Title in 2007
Won SEC Title & played for National Title in 2011

How is that not consistently Elite?

Yeah I mean it's not like LSU and Florida havent won 2 national titles themselves in the last decade or anything. Or Auburn winning one too.

Nope, never happened.

This is Off-Topic, but when will the voters catch on to the whole "Big Game Bob" thing? No one could read the future, but 2003 U.S.C., 2004 Auburn, and 2008 Texas or U.S.C. have strong claims for being in Oklahoma's spot those years.
