I don't want to start a war here, since this has turned into a laugh-at-how-stupid-the-duck-is thread, but I'll just say that even Alabama has needed some breaks to maintain their dominance. As has been stated previously, that's usually the case for any MNC winner.

My point was that the conference, as a whole, consistently puts up MNC contenders. Whether each competitive team is as consistent as Alabama is not in question. From year to year, the depth of talent and coaching in the SEC has been superior to the rest of the conferences. We consistently have a good chunk of our conference in the top 25, top 10, and top 5.

Alabama has prevented other teams from proving that they belong in the MNC because (typically; LSU/Al was an anomaly), only one SEC team goes to the big show. Alabama has been a dominant force that has somewhat overshadowed the talent of the rest of the conference in the eyes of the nation. But that gets back to my point: our conference has had several contenders year-in and year-out, yet only one can be champ.

Let's see....... I think everyone on this board fully agrees that the SEC has been the premier conference in the Nation.

Won SEC Title in 2001
Won SEC Title & National Title in 2003
Played for SEC Title in 2005
Won SEC Title & National Title in 2007
Won SEC Title & played for National Title in 2011

How is that not consistently Elite?

You've got to look at this from an Oregon fan's perspective. Oregon football didn't begin until 2010.

What so many forget: The last Back-to-Back SEC Champion is Tennessee from 1997 & 1998.

No team has won back to back titles since. So, all this talk of this conference being a 1 team league is pure BS.

Alabama got damn lucky in 2011 and received a mulligan. They did not earn a SEC Title that year.

It is impossible for anyone to say that one team is dominating this conference when no one has won back to back titles in 15 years.

I don't want to start a war either.

To you and the LSU fan: I acknowledged a few posts back that all the SEC BCS champions during this run have caught breaks.

Alabama and Saban have done something historic. There's no denying that. But to your point, we have had several MNC contenders over many years. Just because not all have them have won it or done it back-to-back doesn't mean that we don't have a top-tier conference or have had top-tier teams within the conference. Obviously those in the top tier will change from season to season, but we consistently have teams (again, not always the same ones) with a legitimate shot at the MNC any given year. The same cannot be said about most conferences.

That wasn't meant to be a jab at Alabama, either, so I'm glad you didn't take it that way.

I'm saying that the Oregon fan is delusional if he thinks that the SEC is getting too much credit because of Alabama.

The SEC is a gauntlet from year to year and if you survive it, you deserve a shot at the crystal ball.

Actually, it can't be said for any other conference.

AAC (Big East): This conference is pathetically weak. Miami carried this conference; then Miami and Virginia Tech left. West Virginia was good and left for the Big 12. These 3 teams have declined since leaving the Big East and so has the league as a whole.
ACC: This is a two-team conference at best. Florid a State has been consistently overrated since the turn of the century. Clemson hasn't won a national championship in over 30 years. Virginia Tech has had good records and rankings but is not a powerhouse; nor have they ever been during the BCS era.
Big 10: During this millennium, it has been Ohio State's conference. Ohio State has carried the entire conference itself.
Pac 12: Formerly U.S.C.'s conference, this conference may be on the rise, but has been weak the past decade. Oregon and Stanford run this conference now, but U.S.C. won't stay down forever.
Big 12: Supposedly Texas controls the conference's affairs, but Oklahoma owns the conference on the field. This is a 2-team conference at best, and the last few year's it has been a 1-team conference. A random team has unprecedented success every now and then (2011 Oklahoma State, 2012 Kansas State), but the Big 12 is really about Oklahoma. Oklahoma has lost their fair share or bowl games against quality opponents. There's not much to see there.

I didn't take offense. That last drive in the SEC Championship game almost made my heart stop. Y'all were a good team last year. Just think about what could have been if your defense had performed to its full potential; it could have been one of the GOAT.

As much as I hate to say it the SEC is the best conference and it isn't even close in my opinion. Iron sharpens iron. No conference comes close either when it comes to game day atmosphere's. I wish we were in the SEC so damn bad. frick Gata and Tennessee.

Yup...SEC is a one trick pony. Shoot, the PAC 12 often has two teams in the National Championship game, right? OP's post is stupid.

There you Go! That's my point proven by one of you. Everyone else is along for the ride. There is no Top Tier but only a Top 1. FYI, I am talking about recent history and none of that old BS that most of y'all are hanging on to! No one cares what your program did five, ten, twenty and thirty years ago.

For example: No one cares that San Fran was hot and collecting Super Bowls in the late 80's. What have they won lately?

It's what can you do today? It's not about Auburn in 2010 or LSU in 2011. One of those game was more important than the other FYI. Turn the page! Those teams, players and coaches have moved on. Wake up its 2013! On this board all you get is " I remember when " " I remember when " :beatdeadhorse: :beatdeadhorse: :beatdeadhorse:
