for the most part, the secondary did good against quick passes. It was the long routes that got us. DL needs to step up. More Monty and Bradley please.

What? I don't remember more than maybe 3-4 passes completed over 10 yards the entire night.

Was it just me or did it look like Marshall missed the reads on a few of the read option plays tonight to anyone else? I think he'll improve over time, but I hope he finds some touch soon.

In his defense I think he had to field the snap at his feet or on the ground several times from Dismukes, but yes I noticed a couple.

Yeah. those were our main issue. I relate that to how bad we are at linebacker. In the second half we went pretty much all DBs, which helped us mostly shut down their passing attack but left us weak to the middle with QB scrambles, quick hitter crossing patterns, and draws.

Good news is we won't face another offense like WSU for the most part outside of A&M maybe. So things should get better. But Williams can't get here soon enough to play MLB, Holland should not be seeing the field.

I hope we see a bunch of Garrett and Therezie on the field at the same time once Garrett is healthy.

Nick Marshall will be good in a couple weeks.

Runningbacks are BEAST.

Corey Grant has lateral speed and thump to go with his insane acceleration and straightline speed.

Tre Mason is vastly underrated.

Prosch is a meathead who couldn't block drunk Jake Holland.

Bray and Coates were the only receivers to show any competence.

Uzomah and Louis severely dissapointed.

Less Slade more Young.

Adams was amazing, hopefully consistent. Bradley was good in his limited snaps. Lawson looks like a freshman (really good freshman, nontheless). All 3 should start.

Where was Daniel? Thought we'd see more of him than Lawson.

Craig Sanders ain't half bad.

Jake Holland, Kris Frost - lol

Cass's presence wasn't really felt at WILL, but he wasn't noticeably awful like the other two.

Therezie, Davis, and Holsey actually look like SEC caliber DB's. (Therezie needs to be more careful though)

The blown coverages caused by safeties with their heads in their arses we all became accustomed to weren't there.

Offensively About where I expected us to be tonight. It's clear Marshall doesn't have the entire playbook to his name yet.
I attribute some of the overthrown passes to jitter bugs.
WR play has to improve.. like what I saw from Bray.
Offensive line is a strength. JB Grimes is a bad motherfricker.
Too many runningbacks with too few snaps to spread around. Love what we got from Grant tonight.

Defensively Monty Adams is going to win a Lombardi trophy one day. Never seen a true frosh DT get double teamed like he did tonight.
No depth at LB and it showed.. we need Justin Garrett back to hopefully give help over the middle.
Robenson Therezie is panning out to be the guy we expected. Ball hawk.
Melvin Smith is a damn good coach.
We did a decent job of collapsing the pocket tonight esp. in the 2nd half. Gotta shed blocks better.

Coaching Strategy We were bold tonight. Malzahn made a statement by showing we will go for 2. I liked and agreed with pretty much everything.

Nick did fine at QB. Didn't turn the ball over. When you rush for almost 300 yards as a team then you are usually doing pretty good.Umm the OL wasn't spectacular but good enough. Reese Dismukes needs to work on snapping the ball. The WRs and TEs dropped a lot of passes. The RBs were the best on the field. Monty was the best DL all night. Our LBs are garbage. Can we get Tre Williams on scholarship now? DBs were better but needs to limit the 3rd down conversions. The defense should get better when Ford and Garrett become 100%. We are still pretty solid on special teams.

Looking back I dont think we did too bad defensively. You aren't going to limit a team that throws 60+ times to 200 yards passing. Leach knows that offense better than he knows himself. Containing an Air Raid team is tough and I think the DBs were up to the task.

Definitely needed to shore up the defense on 3rd down conversions though. And pressure from the DL was lacking a bit. Hopefully getting Ford and Whittaker back will help.

Marshall has a cannon for an arm and he is quick and looks much better back there than any QB we had last year.

If he adjusts that cannon he will be dangerous.

Other than the turnovers created, I thought the D looked like 2012 all over again. A ton of passing yds, a ton of rushing yds (considering we played a team that can't run the ball) and missed tackles all over the place. Don't wanna make a huge deal about the pass D considering Wazzu passes nearly every down and we're thin right now in the secondary, but the 3rd-down D looked depressingly familiar.

Not worried a whole lot about the O. Marshall will have to get a lot better to be competitive in league games, but I think Gus will have the offense going sooner or later. Can't believe Chizik and Loeffler didn't play Grant on offense last yr. That's laughable.

Pretty clear that LSU, UGA and Bama will blow us out yet again. Other than that, I think we can be competitive.

We won... Defense got better as the game went on, plus the interceptions were huge, we attacked.

Marshall settled down and played better in the second half. Our RBs played well. 31 points is 31 point.

Parkey 3 of 4 was huge.

We are improved, we need to continue to improve.

WSU beat UW last year and Uw killed Boise. Leach can coach, WSU will compete in the future, great hire for them.

If we can get our DL to collapse the pocket better, that defense can get a lot better. They left a few too many escape routes for the qb. If it weren't for a few of those long 3rd and 10 runs, our D would have completely shut them down the 2nd half. They were real close.

Yep. We saw that last night when Monty started taking a majority of snaps.

Missed a few tackles in traffic on slants, but that's what those plays are designed to do. Otherwise, tackling was good. Our DBs played well, most passes were well contested.ma few pass break ups and obviously the interceptions were crucial.

Definitely. Him, Gabe, and Bradley looked good. The DE's still rush too far upfield. Attack the OT a d swim around him if you want a speed rush. Don't give the QB room to slip out up the middle.
