That rule is so players aren't in commercials or endorsing products. Autographs aren't a commercial product and they damn sure aren't a service

That's the NCAA bylaw everyone is saying Manziel broke. Per the NCAA autographs are subject to that bylaw. Its pretty clear compensation is not required to break the bylaw.

Herbie said it's his opinion that next to the "coaches" ( he emphasized that word) running the summer 7 on 7 camps, these autograph brokers are the biggest snakes in the grass out there now when it comes to college football players getting extra benefits.

Posted from Texags thread by "Telcoag". Here is the PSA records for Johnny and Clowney. Let's see if the NCAA really wants to open this can of worms.

The big red flag with Johnny was that the autographs were authenticated in order, at one time. Looks like they authenticated a bunch of Clowney signatures at one time as well.

Pretty sure the red flag was the payment part

I see the numbers are sequential. What I don't see is a timestamp of any kind, or proof of where this picture came from. edit: from indicating NOT an aggie board.

You don't have to believe it. I'm just passing on info as it is presented. A guy on Texags has a few computers pulling 100,000 PSA records so he will probably post a bunch of screenshots in a few hours. He says that so far he can tell that "Braxton Miller's hand must be tired."

what exactly are these PSA records and how does he have access to them? I mean, trust me, if Clowney does come up guilty, then I don't want him playing for us. Not saying it isn't possible, but I have seen literally 0 proof so far that Clowney benefitted illegally.

I'm not an expert, but when autographs are authenticated, they are given a number like seen above. The way they are sequential apparently shows that they were authenticated at the same time and then entered into the system all at once.

And I'm not sure how you get access to them. I'm not techie enough to figure it out.

That indicates to me that they could have just been turned in for authentication at the same time. Doesn't mean that Clowney signed all the stuff at once.

Very true. But there are 100 items that were signed by Clowney that were authenticated at one time. So either he stalked Clowney for a while, gathered up a ton of autographs over a period of time, and then authenticated them all at once. Or he just had Clowney sign them all in one or two sitting.

But obviously nobody has come out and said that Clowney took money, so the situation isn't the same.

A lot of people ignore this, or are just ignorant of the process and go on tidbits they hear from the media. The big issue here is people are saying JFF did this flat out for money. I will await the verdict of the investigation to pass judgement. I would personally like to see the kid play, it's just funny watching aggie fans go "nun uh jff didn't do that!" "if he did then Clowney did too and so did bama!"

I WANT Clowney to play. Of course I do. He is awesome. The reason that a lot of people are pointing this out is because the red flags that were raised with Johnny are showing up for Clowney, McCarron, Boyd, Bridgewater, and other big names.

How big of scum bags are these guys to chase around these kids and get tons of autographs from them?

Exactly, the point is is not to disparage Clowney at all. It is to point out that these brokers hound all these players for autographs. If the NCAA were to really investigate this whole autograph situation for Manziel, then they are opening up a HUGE Pandora's box. I am not sure the NCAA really wants to investigate all of the big name players.

If you and all of the Aggie nation want these guys to play, then why the hell are you trying to bring them all down? Do you really want a boring arse season without Clowney, etc.? I sure as hell don't want to watch a pussy season of backups at every position. I get that you're worried about your JFF, I want to see him play too. But don't mess with the season for the rest of us.
