It's nice to see LSU finally start to give its solid mid-major programs the resources our competition has.

Grats and good work, we just built a new one 3 years ago though..

not tryin to rain on your parade, maybe your statement "It's the first stand alone gymnastics practice facility in the country." is technically accurate since ours is shared with the Golden Girls(dance squad),

Wow, that's an impressive facility.

Sounds like you guys are actually the first. I was just going by what our AD and head coach said.

And it will only get crazier once the SECnetwork money starts rolling in.

Kyle is getting some street-bling as well:

quote:

Texas A&M has asked Daktronics to install six units of Daktronics Street Furniture units surrounding Kyle Field. These eye-level video displays have great appeal for foot traffic with a very tight, 6 millimeter pixel spacing to maximize close viewing distances. Each of these glass-encased displays measure more than 5 feet high by 4 feet wide and will be strategically placed near highly traveled walkways to enhance wayfinding and generate pregame excitement.

"Daktronics is grateful of the opportunity Texas A&M has given us to provide a multi-display system for Kyle Field," said Dan Fjeldheim with Daktronics. "A 1080 resolution main display, auxiliary video displays, ribbons boards and street furniture units will give Kyle Field the most dynamic visual display system in college football."

Aren't your Golden Girls part of the band, like ours are? Our Golden Girls practice along with their band-mates in the best band hall I've seen yet....

Show us your marching band halls!

Amazing how much better that looks

I have a sentimental attachment to the Jolly Rollie (Dad graduated from HS and college there), but this is a major upgrade.

Would someone shed some light as to the point of the fence around the field? It seems like it would be in the way on whoever sits on the front row.

The point is to keep people from just walking onto the field. Yall don't have a barrier? It's not in people's eyesight but front row tickets are terrible regardless, especially among the sidelines.

No, don't usually have problems with folks wandering onto the field of play.

Was this an issue for y'all in the past? Not trying to flame, either.

Anything under row 10 will suck... usually.

We had people run on the field before during rain delays. Everyone school in the south has a fence and or shrubs. Y'all, as usual, are the odd balls. Not us.

Georgia has the bushes
I believe Bryant Denny has walls?

Most stadiums have some form of wall/boundary going around the field.

LSU has wrought iron

It was a pretty stupid question (asked by the other guy).

I don't think Farmer was calling y'all odd; rather, he was genuinely curious.
It was a good question.
No, we don't have a fence around our field; and I don't recall any of the other schools in our previous conference having fences either.
So it's not something we've seen much of.

Eta: sorry--fixed the names

Not if you're coming from A&M's perspective.

The fences/shrubs around the field isn't a trait shared by all stadiums, especially not in our area of the country.
