Coaching question?

If we can afford it (which I assume we can) why not pretty much have a 3 deep coaching staff for each position to learn from their predecessors? I just feel like that way if our coaching staff is legit we can just continue to have the same results as they all get promotions. Plus we can be in contact with many different high schools to help our recruiting effort.

Because you can only have 9 coaches.

You can only have 9 assistant coaches and 2 graduate assistants

There are rules on the amount of coaches you can have to help keep parity in the college ranks.

That is like a football intern...not even sure they get paid much.
Its just a bad idea.

I think we hired several. Guys from Columbus, Montgomery, Mobile and B'ham. These were guys at the top of their profession (as HS coches) and it probably took six-figures to lure them away.
Unless the NCAA suspends that rule, they will all be able to recruit. Their biggest asset is cultivating relationships w high school coaches. They break down film for them, run clinics etc. Bama has been doing it for a while & been pretty successful. Their only limitation is they can't coach "on-the-field."

Yeah, I thought that was something Gus started up very quickly after he was hired. Planting seeds in fruitful grounds.

I would think any more than 9 coaches and the coaches would just get in the way of each other. Ever heard of too many cooks in the kitchen? It would be very hard to get any kind of consistency with that many coaches.
