SEC fan experience survey: Why are some of you attending fewer football games?

This is a survey that's flying around the SEC. Thought I might ask the rant why fan support is falling off a bit.Is it the excitement factor, work, cost is going up, global warming, your team has no chance? What are some of the reasons you decide to stay home and watch it on the big screen? And what could we do to change this?

Price rollbacks....
Damn "donations" and best seats going to professional scalpers makes me sad.

No longer live in south Louisiana and it's just not as easy as it once was

I think if the University is going to make a shitte ton of money off tv contracts, then the tickets to the games should be extremely cheap, not ACC cheap, but every SEC game should be sold out, no excuses. And not just "sold out" but attended.
It should be all about the atmosphere and not the money. But I guess that's crazy talk.

Cost and scarcity of tickets

In professional school

Cost. I would have season tickets if I wasn't poor and had to fight a multiple year waiting list.

They will never lower ticket prices

10" seats...i hate being uncomfortable. Id rather watch the game with replays and beer and bathrooms from my tailgate spot or my couch.

I hear ya, thats why we get the seat backs preinstalled. that way some fattass that got there early hasnt already waddled his way over into my seat. Scholarship seats are our next step, when they become available

Tickets prices are not the big part of the equation the "donation" is.
Greed usually kills the golden goose.

I dont mind the donations, it's 80% tax deductible. I like write offs

They will if a certain amount of people just stop showing up. Would the SEC rather you be home helping the tv ratings or come to the game and support your team?
Is a tv viewer becoming more relevant then a fan at the game?

My first purchase when I get out of school will be LSU season tickets. I just hope I have the time to attend each game.

No they wont. They will simply get thier money by raising the price of a hotdog or a commercial or an ad on the side of a stadium.
The market has shown that ppl will pay the price of current ticket prices.

I enjoy attending games live, but there are a ton of factors that go into why I don't do it as often as I used to.
For me one of the biggest reasons is time. I live in Virginia now, that is a long-arse haul. But even if I were within a few hours of Auburn it would still be an all-day event to attend a game. I can watch a game on TV in a few hours and do other stuff during the day. To attend a game live requires driving, parking, tailgating, the game itself, waiting for traffic to die down, etc.
Expense. With almost every game on tv, I can watch for pretty much no marginal cost, whereas going to games requires buying a ticket (prices on tix have gone up a lot in recent years), gas to get there, parking, eating a few meals out, etc. It all adds up.
Options. With HDTV, bigger screens, and coverage of most games it is easier and more comfortable than ever to watch at home. You can actually see what is going on better. Bathrooms are right there. You can pause the game and get a drink/snack.
Really, I think the atmosphere is the main thing that going live has over watching on tv.

Of course they want you at the games...that is why you see stadiums with better Wifi and cosmetics...the fan experience.
And you can support your team from your couch too.

I am attending fewer games because tickets to BAMA games are ridiculously expensive. I paid over $700 for (2) tickets to LSU at BAMA in 2011. I am also out of state. Hotels in Tuscaloosa are impossible to find on gameday weekends even 6-8 months ahead of time. I am an alumni and donor and its still impossible to find tickets at face value.
