That's why I like SEC baseball so much.

Tickets are very reasonable, you still get to support your school, the competition is still excellent, and the logistics of getting to the event isn't a big deal.

Ticket prices have exploded, far outpacing inflation. This keeps a lot of people away.

There are also a lot of garbage games every year. Most big time schools play 3 rent a win directional schools every year and I can't blame anyone for not going to those.

They are fun every now and then but not that often.

No they wont. They will simply get thier money by raising the price of a hotdog or a commercial or an ad on the side of a stadium.

The market has shown that ppl will pay the price of current ticket prices.

The market isn't a homogeneous group of buyers. There is a whole new generation that will get priced out, and have invested a lot of money in their home theater set up, and won't go to games even if they have the money. Tailgating is the key to selling the future. I hope my administration pays attention.

Shitty OOC home games did it for me. He'll, they are out of state shitty opponents which makes it even worse.

Quite a few things actually, 1. AU ATH DPT / UNIV ruining the tailgating experience by forcing those in attendance to the outer perimeter of campus in the name of "public safety" then deciding to "charge/@$$ rape" for the priv of tailgating within .5 mile of the stadium, $$$ driven greed... 2. raising prices of all tickets, $50 to see crap like New Mexico State Univ., $65 for Miss St., $85 for LSU, complete BS, once again, $$$ driven greed, 3. complete cluster-$%^& of a traffic situation in addition to AU hotels mandating you stay for 2-3 nights during the season at 300% the normal rate, 4. Inept decision making from the AU AD relating to producing a quality product worthy of attending, AU FB, AU BBALL, AU Baseball = CRAP.... 5. Garbage concessions at prices that would make those at the Turner field blush... No thanks, my $$$ can be spent elsewhere and without the hassel....

Already seeing this in country club memberships dropping as prices rise and the next generation opts not to buy in even if they have the money.

Combination of:

Cost, OOC schedule, but mostly bad product being put on the field. If UT was better, I would put more effort into attending more games. It just isn't any fun to spend a ton of money to watch your team lose to Missouri and/or Vandy.

Last year was the only year we didn't have season tickets. Before last year, we always had great tickets, but they were under a friend's name. During the 2010/2011 season we didn't go to a single game because a) our kids were too young, and b) OM was terrible.

We bought in this year as a Capital gift donor to get 4 club level seats no later than 2015. We didn't make the cut for them this year, but get to choose regular seats sometime soon, so we will be at every home game this year.

A little off-topic, but I agree about baseball being possibly the best sport to see live. Living so far from Auburn I tend to go to more pro sports in DC. Baseball is the best b/c I can quickly get to games on the Metro and prices are not outrageous. Going to a Redskins game is an all-day event. Going to a Nats game takes an afternoon or evening, leaving the other 1/2 to 2/3 of the day for other stuff.

the games i usually miss involve teams that are fcs type games. I would never trade in watching it at home over inside the stadium for the majority of the games

Aggies don;t have that problem. We dont have nearly enough seats for every one that wants to attend.

That's why we are rebuilding/expanding the football stadium.

I haven't seen this mentioned. One of the main reasons that I have stopped going to games is that you miss so many other games. I'm a huge Bama fan, but also just as big a fan of the SEC and college football. If we have a 2:30 kickoff, you miss the 11am games getting to Tuscaloosa and with our 3 hour drive home, you miss most of the later games

True, and with the TV (and in my case, my laptop) it is kind of an issue. Plus, the 330 (230 CT) slot generally has some great games too.

I still go to most UA games, but my interest in college football is lowering. I feel like the overall quality games have gotten worse. I feel the same way about college basketball. Also kind of getting tired of spending all day to see my team rout the opponent 9 out of 10 times.
