Which means you and I should be on the same page as far as the Braves go.

The Braves need money and upper management. Are farm system is GOAT, but we can't afford to keep them all. The Yankee's buy Championships.

Ted Turner was just content with NL East titles because it helped his television station ratings. I want someone at both UGA and the Braves that is BLOOD THIRSTY! And has a NEED to win it all!!

Here is my thing with richt, way underachieves. Georgia is loaded with talent, has double the population as louisiana, and the only other d1 program in state is one that has academic restrictions. No excuse for richt. UF and USCe are bout to pass up UGA for a few years and they will battle tennessee for 3rd.

How about Todd Berry? Already has a mid tier SEC team with D2 talent...imagine what he could do in Georgia.

Really think UGA needs defensive guy. They seem to care more about winning (frick, even CMR said there is more to life than winning and losing in his Sunday Presser after the USC game ). Take money out of the equation. Talking D1 and NFL, who would you want to lead your team?

We can afford anyone, including Nick Saban. (No, I don't think that would ever happen, just sayin')

Thanks for the input!

Seriously, though... Does the longest tenured, most successful in terms of wins, SEC coach in the league get to stay longer than 10 years without a Natty on the shelf?

Or would you prefer to be considered the VT of the SEC?

Titles, or consistency?

Interesting comparison. If VT fired Beamer, they would become the Virginia of the ACC.

Who is going to replace Richt, do a much better job, and contend for National Titles? And why?

Never thought of that, but a very good comparison. I suppose the key difference is the much better recruiting area of Georgia compared too Virginia (of course much more difficult competition also).

Response to you both.

People always hate on Mike Bobo, however, the guy can and has proven to be able to score points. Not his fault Aaron Murray is short as frick and can't perform at the elite level.

What about do like UF did and bring in a defensive guy to run the team. What about someone from the NFL like a Wade Phillips ect. He has head coaching experience and a NASTY D in Houston (out of nowhere)

UGA needs a fresh face. I'd rather go backwards so long as we are trying to bring a crystal football home. McGarity is watching the money roll in and I don't see a change any time soon.

However, CMR has plans to do God's work and I see him retiring within 5 years. It will eventually have to change, why not do it while are program has some great things going for it?

He can't prepare/push the guys over the top for the big games.

Thoughts on CMR??

A very good coach that, like you said, has too much of a relaxed approach.
It's crazy that UGA hasn't even played for a title during his tenure, but then again I doubt very few people would take Coker or Chizik over Richt.

Edit: You also need breaks to go your way once you lose a game to get there. If USC doesn't choke against a bad UCLA team in 06, we go to the Sugar Bowl instead. UGA just didn't get the breaks in 02 and 07.

Richt peaked in his second season after Spurrier left, Fulmer was struggling, Meyer had not arrived, and Cocky was still average at best. Georgia is only good when the league is down.

I'd take him at Arkansas for sure. He is a very good coach, recruits well, and I think he will eventually get you into the NC game.

USCe has managed to become a contender for sure, but it isn't every year that you have Clowney or Lattimore grow up in S Carolina. They've had just a bit of luck getting those two monsters. I'd bet that Ga is more likely--even under richt--to sustain high-level fb than USCe over the long haul. And the jury is still out to a degree on Florida. I think you can beat them

The Hog have managed to play LSU quite well these past 5 or so years; it doesn't mean that we have surpassed them as a FB power. Nor does it mean that they should fire Miles. My goodness, Houston Nutt always seemed to get to Tubberville during his run at Aubie, but that sure didn't mean we had the better program during that time.

Richt might just be your Mack Brown, but until you can hire someone you know is better, your better off sticking with him. And MAck did get the Horns a crystal ball a few years ago.

Bottom line to me is this: Saban--and perhaps Chip Kelly--are the only two sure-thing coaches in college fb right now. The next tier includes several guys INCLUDING Richt.

You guys had your chance when he went 6-7 losing to Univ of CENTRAL Florida...you are stuck now. I dont care for Richt and for two reasons...he doesnt control his players or his asst coaches.

Under his watch you had the disaster of the celebration of the end zone TD against UF in 2007 and we were down that year...the next year Meyer put it in Richts earhole 49-10...then in 2009 the asst coaches were yelling at players questioning their manhood (my wife was taught sign language and lip reading)...this was infamous Spikes eye gouching incident against RB Ealey....truth is that Ealey was spitting at Gator players who tackled him. He is lucky Spikes didnt rip his testicles off. Then you had your DC make the choking sign to a Gator FG kicker just before he nailed a winner in OT in 2010.....bush league antics for a coach.

Did I mention that I didnt care for Richt?

I'm so sick of fans saying "our school/program DESERVES [fill in the blank]."

You don't deserve shite. Go earn it on the field.

Well, the aggies had this guy named R.C. Slocum, so we comprehend plenty. Teams full of nfl talent but outcoached and outmotivated in big games vs. similar talent levels. Once Stoops and Butterteeth Brown started recruiting lights out, he was finished, and we were playing catchup for a decade. We finally learned our lesson and cut a coach loose after four years of uninspired performance, and got Sumlin.

Cliff notes: he probably will never win a mnc if he hasn't yet.

He is who we thought he was. Caught a load of grief from UGA fans stating so early in season, oh well I tried.

I'm OK with GA keeping Richt or firing him.

Keeping him means the same old UG most likely.

Terminating him could send them down the UT or Arky path with the wrong hire. That would be glorious.
