This is what I don't agree with, but it's all in terms of how you view it.
ETA: I'd just go with one of the best.

Certainly there are arguments to be made. I think he's the best active coach. Probably not the GOAT or anything, but he's exceptional.

I'm not going to bother because I'm sure the response will be along the lines of "hurr durr he's beaten so in so and won at LSU and Bama."
Tell me this, what program has he ever built from the ground up?

LSU was loaded with fricking talent and that a-hole left the first opportunity to fall on his arse in the nfl, before crawling back to bama where he knew he could cheat to win. Bama fans are pathetic

Im not an LSU fan, i just call them like i see thwem, unlike the bammers who think he's some sort of fricking god because he cheats more than the rest of the coaches and lies to everyone.
Chillax hombre, we all know Saban is as slimy as it gets. Bammers will be on the business end of it soon. All good things come to those don't beg.

A straight up trade?
Coach swap?
I'm sure the vast majority would take that trade.
But it's still a stupid hypothetical because it's never going to happen.
Alabama is the only SEC team Saban is going to coach between now and the day he dies.
Also, the SEC Rant has a serious shortage of Saban hardlegging threads. Thanks for starting another one because I was starting to get worried that not enough people recognized the incredible awesomeness that is Nick Saban. How the world survived before him is beyond me.

I think Mich. St. I could be wrong though.

Not really. He took over right as they were coming off major probation on an upswing,

Let's get some more Bammerkind to herp and derp in this thread!

...and I'll be appreciative for everything he's done, he won us two NC's. Unlike the LSU fanbase who still bitch and moan about how he was so mean to us. Wah wah wah. It's like you guys are some physco ex girlfriends who cant get over being dumped. Pathetic. So know all they can do is say he cheats, and is slimy.
Like I said before, you would think LSU fans would worship the guy because he took you guys from Miss State level to champions, but no, just more and more tears.
If Saban left today he would go down as one of my all time favorite coaches.

Thats not a good response. im guessing you dont feel comfortable making an argument.

Michigan state was shite when he got there and on probation. he guided them to their first ten win season in 35 years.
LSU had 8 losing seasons in the previous 11 years when he got there and had won a nartional title since 1958.
Alabama had 4 500 or below seasons in 6 years when he arrived.

It's a promotion. Just like it is another level for players and assistants, so it is for HC's.

Wrong... They were on an uptick the year prior to his arrival when the sanctions were lifted. They were historically good.

Recruiting at a school like Alabama isn't hard. Getting the best players there isn't hard. Winning there isn't hard.
I say this when someone mentions LSU in this sentence.
It's not easy to win at any school in Division 1, especially in the SEC. It's not easy recruiting in this conference either. I don't get why some people think it's so easy to win. It's not, you have to work hard. You can't just sit back in your couch, light up a cigar and wait for all the best players to sign at your school.

I don't think Saban is near the villain that many portray him as. He felt he'd done all he could at LSU and wanted to try his hand at something else -- the next logical step. It didn't work out as he wanted, he wished to go back to coaching in college in the SEC, and Alabama was the job available. I'm sure in retrospect he probably would have just stayed at LSU, but I think the fact that he left and then came back to another school that LSU has to play left them feeling slighted. I understand that, but I don't think it's entirely fair to Saban.

If that is the case, then i would have to say he has never been really tested. I will give him credit for turning around the Bama team when he came in * Parole Tide. Bear Bryant, Who IMHO really was a great coach mabey the best on the college football level, unlike Saban has legendary status at 2 major University football programs. Each program he helped build from ground up.
