I'm sure Al's next post will have something to do with Miss State's remarkable run so far in the 2011-2012 and has Andy Katz' early seedings and projections somewhere.

Actually Lunardi has me pissed putting us as a 6 seed in the tournament. I guess we will have to prove him wrong.

Id be happy with a 6 seed. They usually can get to the 16.

I've argued that MSU was a pretty good team this year, just haven't gotten over the hump yet. Their defense was pretty much SEC caliber all season long. Their offense wasn't the greatest but they played the four top defenses in the SEC, which just so happened to be four top 10 defenses. Arky's offense didn't look so great against a couple of those defenses either. If they had gotten that one yard against Aubie, we'd think differently about them. They played LSU and Bama closer than any other team in the SEC (other than LSU and Bama of course).
ETA: Having said that, y'all better go treat Wake like you treated Michigan last year.

We have two nice juco commits on the DL and OL. They are going to help a ton.

I admit it. I was wrong.
He's a better recruiter than I would have thought, and a wore coach than I would have thought.
I missed big on that one.

As of right now we are definitely holding strong.
With that said, I'm holding my judgement until these players actually sign their LOIs.

If he can keep this up, he may make MSU into what I thought he would when they hired him. Good news is that Nutt isn't at OM to steal them away in January and Feb.

Happy for the dawgs. At least they win their bowls for the next few years.

Chizik will be happy to take Channing Ward off of Mullen's hands on NSD...

MSU is my third favorite SEC team behind Arkansas and LSU, so I find myself cheering for them for every game but 1 or 2 a year.
Like others have said, they could have beaten both Auburn and South Carolina on any given day and I feel that if those games were played again they could very well be looking at 2 wins there instead of 2 losses.
They were able to hang somewhat with every other team this season (except for Arkansas of course )...things just didn't fall the way they needed to.
If they can get their QB situation sorted out and work on their Oline a bit more I could see them being pretty good the next couple years.
Unfortunately, "good" in the SEC West could very well mean that you are 4th or even 5th in your DIVISION. We are in a freaking brutal division.

it should be mentioned, that what is probably helping Dan a lot this year is having his name mentioned for a lot a big jobs like Penn State. he can use that w/ recruits to show his value but look them in the eyes and tell them he's committed to MSU. it's a nice touch when the coach is vague w/ the media on his future but very candid w/ the recruit and his family. Spurrier had a lot of success when his name was being floated around for the Bama job.... but, if Mullen were to leave town, MSU's class would fall apart.

And still 6th best in the sec.
