You know better. You've seen what happens to teams who play weak opponents throughout the year then meet up with the SEC Champ in the BCS. LSU would make it to Atlanta every year and be embarrassed every year.
Says you.... We have TCU, OU, Arizona State, and Washington coming up in the next few years.

chancellor also said all expansion would be to another state.
that rules out clemson, gt, fsu et al.
mizzou, ou, osu, aTm looking more and more likely

There are a lot of realignment scenarios that have been thrown out, but this one makes very little sense, particularly the placement of the current westernmost and 2nd northernmost program in the South.
In any East-West division with any rationality behind it, Arkansas will be in the West. In any rational North-South division, it'd be in the North.

oh great, then everything's groovy. no need to keep around traditions that have been ongoing since the 1800's.

I see the Auburn game as a more civil rivalry.
What fricking rock have you been hiding under?

The Bama fans who say they want UT rivalry to be saved over the Iron Bowl are hilarious. It's such a clever jab.

I like the north and south idea

How about this? Star's indicating possible 15th and 16th team locations.

Why do I have this suspicion that Kentucky & Vandy don't really care either way?

What's Ok State's deal?
SEC doesn't really want them. Wanted just Oklahoma and be done at 14. Oklahoma to SEC pretty much requires Ok State with them and forces to 16 quick.
Pac 12 ready to accept Ok & Ok State. SEC needs to decide (SEC hold up is that Ok State gives you no new value)

Leave it to johhny-come-lately to make that statement.

I actually agree with you R2R - traditions do seem to be taking a backseat the last few years - but the SEC would lose a TON of cash if the big rivalry games didnt happen anymore.
Here's one way that can be fixed... if your conference "rival" is in the opposite division, just schedule them out-of-conference in those years that you do not play them in the conference rotation.
Now a coda to this should be that when scheduled OOC it does NOT count as a conference game (I had enough of the extra, easy Vandy win Bama used to schedule as an extra game every year). Everyone must play the same number of OFFICIAL conference games.

There are extreme fans at every school that take the rivalry way too far but you cant make your assumptions about a schools fan off of one or a few people.

If there is a legit opportunity to take Va Tech, I say frick it and let Okie Lite join too to balance the conference with quality teams.

UNC yes, but not likely. FSU no. We are going to expand to new states. OU and OSU yes, but IDK what that texas star is .
Austin is farther south than that, so is that TCU?

It's not a jab. Some of us value that rivalry more than the Bama/Au one, if forced to choose. Tenn is historically the 2nd best program in the conference and have just had a tough run lately, much like Bama did in the early 2000's and Auburn did in the 90's, 60's and 70's and pre 57.
I hate Au more, but it wouldn't bother me losing that series as much as it would Tenn. There's been alot of hate there also, but a ton more respect for their program and I'd personally, just rather have that series continued. Nothing like the 3rd Sat in Oct. Plus, imagine the SEC CG if it ever did come down to Bama/Au meeting for the first time in that game for all the marbles. Huge.
