Not sure he wants to coach the team, but maybe AD:

“I would do anything in the world to help Luke Fickell out and do anything for him, but my obligation is to what I do now, what I do for a living now and to my four kids,” Spielman said. “I’m basically starting a new life and the one thing that I fear is that I would turn into that person I was as a player, which wasn’t all bad don’t get me wrong, but I become consumed and I don’t want to be that guy anymore.”

ETA: That quote was his reponse when asked if he would consider coaching at OSU.

I really don't recall the penalties having much of an impact on AU other than no tv and a bowl ban.. You could argue it cost us a shot at a national title, but who knows what would have happened in the SECCG vs Fl and then a bowl game.

AU won 20 games during the first 2 years of probation, and never really had a horrible season until tater tot's last season.

I was chastised once for wearing my LSU shirt to a Houston, Texas High School football game I was covering for the Houston Chronicle, I was told by this Bama fan I was breaking NCAA rules and could get LSU football in trouble.

Having 3 differnt coaches in a period of less than one year was certainly a factor in why it took Bama so long to recover. Having an idiot like John Blake as the HC at Oklahoma was certainly a factor in why it took them so long to recover

MY point is quality leadership isnt going to stick around during that shite, IF they even step into that pile in the first place. It just aint happening.

Yes. At least, I know we had one related to our punishment around that time. I am pretty sure it was 93.

It was and that whole year sucked! No games on TV and we were friggin undefeated! And now Bowl....

I believe you, but count yourself fortunate that there are not more OSU fans here or else you would get mocked for that. Any time anyone says they know someone "inside" another program people from that fanbase come out from everywhere claim BS.

(I've seen your posts enough to know you aren't FOS, though)

I just happen to be in some situations where I have got to know a lot of athletes, as well as, went to school with serveral also. I could care less if they claim BS. I could post photos, home addresses, phone numbers, parents & siblings names and thier contact info also, but I dont really want the interwebz knowing all my bidniss.

OM's probation in the late 80s/early 90s was the 2nd worst ever handed down by the NCAA. No tv, no postseason, severely reduced scholarships....That's why everyone loved Tubb so much bc he took a chance coming here and really got the program going in the right direction quickly.

Auburn's actual penalties for the severe sanctions in the Ramsey case were a frickin joke. It was all about the TV ban. I think they only lost a few scholarships. And don't give me that lame a## myth about the entire probation being about Ramsey receiving some steaks. I love how Auburn folks try to convince everyone that was the heart of that case as if the 60 minutes interview tapes of Auburn coaches discussing pay for play never happened.

I do love how tOSU fans act like getting rid of Tressel solves everything. If only it was that easy schools could designate a head coach or assistant to cheat their brains out and all the school would have to do to avoid further sanctions is fire that coach.

Buckeyes are going to go out of the way to make Tressel the fall guy for as much as possible. It's hard to really say what kind of punishments they'll get until the actual violations they're charged with are clear.

I'm sure they are waiting to see how this strategy works out for Tennessee before proceeding or coming up with a new plan...

What are they going to be charged with? If it's their compliance department turning a blind eye to 50 players getting cars, then the situation doesn't really have much in common with Tennessee.

So you are saying that Tennessee didn't try to make their former football staff of Kiffen and basketball staff of Pearl the fall guys for their cheating?

I never said when the story was coming out, but I said who will put out the report. So keep your head in the sand. If you do some research you will find I corrected BlueTuna about his statement on TR early on before the thread was taken over by Tide posters. I believe I have not gone back to that thread as I believe it to be at best hearsay and speculation.

No, I'm saying it's easy to pin the blame on the coach if the violations are simply tied to the coaches (like lying about a barbecue, sending your idiot brother in law to do some dirty recruiting, hosting a workout, etc). Trying to pin the blame on the coach isn't going to work well if they NCAA finds out your compliance department simply ignored obvious violations.

As someone who has worked in media before I decided I actually wanted to make some money, let me give you a quick lesson in how this works:

If you have a story that huge - you go with it. If Yahoo had proof that AU was in a bidding war with others (and won, obviously) then they would go with it the very moment their attorneys gave approval.

Yeah, but they will say the coach found out but didn't inform the compliance department like he was suppose too.

It is going to be hard to compare the OSu cheating to other schools as the shear numbers involved rival only SMU.

Now, if it comes out that there was a slush fund set up by boosters to pay for play and OSu does not receive the death penalty with boosters involved being banished for life, well, I feel sorry for Ohio and Kent State, the NCAA is about to rain down upon them...
