probably the best position player in the sec right now.

No that goes to Zach Cox right now. Rivals named Cox the best player in the country so far this season.

Zack Cox. Avg. 425 HR. 6 RBI. 37 OPS. 524 BB. 54
Micah Gibbs. Avg. 396 HR.(not in top 300) RBI. 26 OPS.(not in top 300) BB.(not in top 300)
Zack Cox is the better player... LSU's coach and DVH are both top college baseball coaches and Arkansas and LSU are actually pretty even teams if the Hogs reliever didn't have a meltdown Arkansas takes 2 of 3 at least. Zack Cox is easily top 3 position player if not the best. He will probably be a top 10 pick in the next draft if he goes.
Micah Gibbs. Avg. 396 HR.(not in top 300) RBI. 26 OPS.(not in top 300) BB.(not in top 300)

I'm not sure where you got your numbers from, but after the games tonight updated numbers are:
Gibbs - .420 Avg, 5 HR, 33 RBI, 1.137 OPS, 8 Walks
Cox - .436 Avg., 6 HR, 35 RBI, 1.300 OPS, 22 Walks
So while Cox has the edge across the board, it's not like he's head and shoulders over Gibbs. Outside of walks, they are pretty damn close.

Except one is an All American catcher and other isn't. Gibbs will go before Cox in the draft for that reason alone.

jrmcmahon, Maybe you should take a look at some of these.
Even Eibner is predicted to go before Gibbs as of right now.

In comparing a catcher and a player from a different position who are basically equal, it's always going to be the catcher who gets the nod from me. It is incredibly difficult to play that position at the level that Gibbs does. In addition, most catchers can't hit as effectively as Gibbs, either.
An exellent catcher who's a scary hitter is a much rarer thing than a position player with power.

well rivals is wrong. when you factor in gibbs is a switch hitting catcher and probably in the top 3 defensively in the nation he gets the nod.

MLB scouts seem to think Cox is the best prospect in the Southeast.
But hey, what do they know?
