That's true at LSU. At Alabama he inherited a terrible Shula roster and went 7-6, including a home loss to Louisiana Monroe in his first year. In year 2 he went 12-0 and then lost to Tebow in the SECCG and Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Year 3 was a national championship. Now that's a 3 year program turnaround arc, it's not the arc Kelly appears to be in.

You were the one who originally brought up recruiting rankings.
You literally used recruiting rankings to try to make the argument that Florida and LSU were vastly different situations, now you're saying those aren't "useful."
Incredible.
You aren't quoting recruiting ranks dumbass. You are using them to define entire team strength which as I pointed out is dumb.

I realize you may not understand this but the team talent composite is based on recruiting ratings.
The same thing that recruiting rankings are based on.

Based on = not recruiting ratings.
If you think a 4 star freshman is equal to a 4 star senior, then there is nothing I can do.
When it's recruiting ranks, everyone is rated at the same time as they are as incoming freshman. Those rankings don't get updated based on the years of development and experience they have gained.
If they were, then it might be a somewhat useful stat. But they aren't.

Recruiting rankings either matter or they don't.
Make up your mind.

It's not my problem if you don't understand why the context and how they are used matters.
Good luck with it though.

You trash the team composite ranking because it values a freshman and senior the same, I agree that is a hole in the composite.
However, simply using class by class rankings is probably even worse because it doesn't account for transfers which is a massive part of college football these days.

You asked me what that 1 point difference made for the composite and I answered that question. It's just not a good stat without further context. And I was unable to find the context because it kept taking me to 2023 rosters. Based on 2023 rosters, 1 point difference is 6 5 stars vs 1 5 star. Still, I doubt that is the same answer for 2022 because the stat itself doesn't give context and is overall worthless.
When it comes to recruiting classes, the 1 point difference is more meaningful(it's actually a 3 point difference for 2022 recruiting) because everyone is being compared to each other.
Sure using recruiting classes to do the same thing is not better, but that's not what the previous context was. It was talking about who walked into a better situation, and that is where the recruiting classes matter because it shows the support and so forth of the programs. And again, I think it's crazy to suggest LSU is or has been below Florida in that regard, and the recruiting rankings over previous years reflects that.
Even in your own arguments, every single stat LSU is better than Florida. You're merely trying to downplay the differences. If I was a Florida fan, and BK didn't have 7 losses in the past 2 years, you'd all be trying to amplify the differences talking about how anyone coach can win at LSU and it's about to be 4 coaches to win a NC in a row.

No, I wouldn't.
The 20-7 record is very good IMO, considering the circumstances.

What do a few bad early Saban losses while building up a program have to do with Brian Kelly literally never winning a big postseason game while consistently getting the opportunity to play in them?
